This is the Zog Nit model. If you haven't seen before, I was discussing smaller self defense backup knives, and while I think my fullt ang sgian dubh fits the bill, I set a goal to duplicate the basic size of a smaller production SD knife with an original design.

The over length of this is 7 3/8 inches (tiny bit larger than the norm, which is a flat 7 inches). The 3 3/8 inch blade is a full 1 inch broad at the hilt.

Steel is 1080, differentially tempered through the tang and part of the blade. Grind is full convex, with a double convex along the front 2/3 of the blade to form the partial double edge. I think this works out very well for mass and strength, keeping a strong edge and blade. Blade finish is to 600 grit, hand rubbed.

Profile is more or less triangular, with a good point and a full, if narrow, belly. The knife is perfectly serviceable as an EDC, though the design purpose is for a backup.

This one is a bit thicker in the handle than some, at 3/4 inch. Handle scales are tan linen micarta, with 1/4 inch stainless pins.

Sheath is a Patriot model- the horizontal strap allows for a molle clip, horizontal carry, or strap mounting. The belt hanger that passes through allows for IWB, inside belt, outside belt carry. The pouch is formed and deep enough that you need a sharp tug to draw it, but it comes out well and secure in the hand.

Asking price for this is $165, with $8.00 insured shipping in the US- paypal, money orders, checks are all good.

my hosting took a hit last night with some transformer explosions, it's all back up but can be a little slow as the company rebuilds some of the paths and virtual hosts they use. Good job getting it back up, though!

this is the first time I've done the micarta for this design. a bit lower profile in the black micarta should be good. I'll probably do one in black paper eventually. hard to finish, but excellent when it's done

I'm finishing up 2 single edged ones for an order. Maybe I'll list another one here......

Yeah, I strop a zero edge on these. It's not a 20 degree combined angle, given the purpose ot the knife, but it's sharp.
