I know this subject has been discussed before, but it looks like it has been a few years, and I wanted to get a fresh take on the matter...also I've added a poll!

I'm having a little bit of trouble deciding on which blade design for my first CRK - a plain Ti, small Sebenza 21 with silver hardware. For the small in particular, does it make more sense to go with the Insingo because of it's longer effective cutting edge, or the regular clip point style for its better piercing ability? I mostly use the knife for breaking down boxes, opening packages, and the occasional food prep, but would also like it to be as versatile as possible. The laws where I live prohibit me from carrying anything longer than 3 inches, so the large Sebenza 21 is really out of the question for me. Thanks in advance for your opinions!

IMHO ... for pure cutting ability the tasks that you listed ... Id go with the Insingo its got enough tip to puncture if needed but it excells at slicing ... whether boxes or food prep. My Insingos get far more carry time then the clip point. Its either an Insingo or a ZT 0770 with a simliar modified sheepsfoot blade in my pocket most often.

Hard for me to say, I used to have a small insingo, and have a small micarta clip point inbound. I'm voting clip point, but its almost 50/50 for me.

I got the regular blade mini sebenza first but the insingo is my favorite of the two. I'll probably get a large insingo in the future. Love the blade for general purpose cutting.

FWIW, the Insingo is just as good at piercing as the regular, but looks less stabby if sheeple are an issue.

Thanks for the replies so far. I'm not sure if this is just a coincidence, but the poll so far favors clip (5-1) while the thread comments strongly favor Insingo. Perhaps those with the Insingo are just more passionate about the design than those with the clip? Interesting...

If I were you and on the fence about which would function better... I'd just pick the one that I thought looked cooler. No matter which blade shape you (hopefully) are gonna end up using it. If you can't tell which grass is greener, chances are it's neither ;)

I'd suggest getting the one that appeals to you. I'm not sure it would make a ton of noticeable difference in the bulk of EDC tasks. Which do you like?

Very interested in the results here. Good poll! I like the look of the clip best, but the insingo cutting edge is outstanding for a 3" utilitarian blade.

The first time my Mnandi fails to execute my edc tasks with ease, I'll be buying a small seb. So far the tough Mnandi just keeps on delivering.

The small clip point seemed too small for me. The large is great but not for my edc at work. The Insingo feels like it has more cutting edge than a cp, thus making it feel like it is a bigger blade than a cp (IMO). I carry a small Micarta Insingo and love it.

Either way, for an edc, go Micarta and you won't be disappointed. I promise.

I find the small insigno is just awesome for those tasks. It cuts like a box cutter. That tip works good at piercing also.

They are both awesome, so you can't go wrong with either one. However, for my first I would go with the "classic" blade profile.

Thanks for the comments so far everyone. I'm leaning towards the Insingo for practical purposes, however I do like the looks and the profile of the clip point blade when closed. Ernier1980 also raises a good point, though, in that the clip is really the "classic" blade profile. I'm not a collector, and I really don't plan on EVER purchasing another knife (which is why I'm not taking this decision lightly!), so perhaps in the long run it would be better to have a more "classic" profile than a stylized/specific design like the Insingo?

The Insingo seems to me like it is more for the user than the collector. You don't see Insingos on any of the collectible fancy inlays, CGG, etc... In a quick search, the only inlays I can find on an Insingo are the Micarta and CF which are, IMO, a user inlay.

Great Poll! Thanks for doing it. What I would like to see is a poll between blade favorites between the large Regular and large 21. Myself, I am a bit biased as I will live and die Large Regular but that is just my opinion and the knife that I have bonded with and will carry until God sees it time to take me off of this great green earth. Then hopefully my kids will use the rest of the knives, not sell them, lol.
However, since a lot more people carry a 21 I think the results would most overwhelmingly be in favor of the 21. Both are killer knives in their own right.

Thanks for the comments, everyone. Do the majority of those who own and prefer the Insingo also carry (or at least own) another traditional clip point blade? Furthermore, if you were only "allowed" to own ONE knife, would it still be the Insingo?

Insingo, hands down. To answer your earlier question about those who favor the Insingo, I do own many clip points also. Mostly crk, too. I rarely carry the clip point blades on a day to day basis. I may break out one of my fancier clip points from time to time just to spice things up a bit, but for actual use and edc, I would pick the Insingo if I could only keep one. And a micarta double silver thumb stud if I had a choice! ;)

I am just wondering how many voted for clip point and don't own an Insingo and vice versa. I would venture to say most Insingo owners also own clip points and not as much the other way around.

I second the double silver thumb stud motion. It is a TNK (True North Knives) exclusive.
