small Sebenza vs mini skirmish

Get the Sebenza. I wanted one forever and didn't have the money. I saved until I did and have not regretted it for one minute. It may have saved me money because I have not bought another folder since getting it. If you do decide that it's not what you want later on resale value will be very good.

In the end, I couldn't decide, so bought them both. But I can't keep both. I'll feel them both out and decide, then sell the other. I felt this was the only way.

Let you know :D

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but I just got my Sebenza Small 21 and damn this thing is putting a hurtin on my thumb. What is the secret? I watched a few videos even and still not doin right I guess.

It IS brand new, I have read some need a little break in period. Maybe that is it.

Perfect otherwise. It is my only knife now.

i think this video explains it quite well.

Yeah, the stud on the sebenza is a little different from every other folder I've owned. After about a week or so your thumb should be fine. I open my small and large the same way, though it is a little easier to open the large in my opinion. The main thing is to avoid putting your thumb right on top of the stud.

Yeah, your video did help a lot. I am trying to get it. Practice, practice. Damn my thumb hurts right now though!!:D

If you like a Sebenza, it's only a matter of time before you talk yourself into getting one. When I first got into knives, I kept setting limits on how much I would ever spend on one. I think it started at $60, then went to $130. I told myself I would never ever spend the money on a Sebenza because it was just crazy. Low and behold I am the proud owner of a Large Sebenza 21 with unique graphic ($485). Once you target a Sebbie, there is no de-targeting. That being said, I really like the Skirmish and would like to get one myself. Look at it this way, if you get the Sebenza, you may or may not end up with the Skirmish too. If you get the Skirmish, you will end up with both.

I work in the music retail industry and know how it goes. So I just got some Benchmades and Spydies, saw the Sebenza and said......"That is it".

You will make your choice :) I made mine :)
This is what is here:

I have both and would have to say for the money, the skirmish blows the sebenza out of the water. But the sebenza is PERFECT in every way, but twice the price? Its up to you. Also I have a Sage 2 and I have to say i find myself carrying it more than both of them. If money is not an issue though, get the sebenza you wont be disappointed.

Well, going in the other direction...

Love my Skirmishes - my Buck 172 Mayo TNT is a keeper. But - that Buck Vantage Pro #347 has essentially the same S30V blade as the TNT - at a fraction of it's price. I had it before the others - by a year - and it is still a favorite EDC - when I might need to cut 'anything', something I won't subject my other knives to, much less a Sebbie - which I still want - no cure from knife-gluttony!

I prefer the sebenza as I prefer the fandf and bladeshape. Hoever, the skirmish is a very nice knife as well but I really dont like recurves so I sold mine. I think you would be happy with either
