Hi folks -

I was able to get out into the woods yesterday with my JK Small Simple Scandi with me as my small detail knife, and my JK Gambler's Bowie as my chopper.

My Izula gets no love anymore, no need for it since I have had my SSS.

I find I get more control for detailed cutting, like notching, with the smaller knife. I can get great leverage on the tip of the blade, and I was better able to push the knife blade into wood than even with the Bowie! That surprised me.

I used the SSS to shave up some dry kindling for a fire, and also to sharpen down a couple of sticks to steady the piece of rotting log we used to contain our small fire.

This knife is 5 3/4" overall, with a 2 3/8" x 1/8" forged finish blade, scandi ground with a tiny microbevel. It has a torched oak handle, and two 1/8" brass pins.

John sells these for $90, SHIPPED with a leather belt sheath, and your choice of standard handle materials. You can get this knife with a 1" longer blade for $5 more.

Thanks, I'm liking simple little knives lately...though my Izula still gets some love...for now anyway, and that one looks good. I have heard good things about the JK heat treat. The idea of an inch longer blade is appealing, I wonder if micarta is available.
