small skinning knife

any suggestions on a small inexpensive fixed blade skinning type knife?

under 3" blade, preferably a wider blade

Check ragweed forge for a wide range of small FBs that might suit your purposes. Also, I believe Russell (Grohman) makes one especially for skinning. Bark River's Woodland is an excellent small drop-point suitable for skinning.

i;m thinking something along the lines of the stubby boker, the subcom, i think it is. i prefer something a little more traditional though.

How about the Subcom Fixed Blade?

The Kaira is a Finnish skinning knife. (fourth knife down)

Similar to the Kaira, the ANZA Full Tang Field Hunter.

just as i suspected. pete had a little skinner like that with wooden scales. japanese made i believe in a leather boot-knife type sheath. i kind of took a fancy to the style.
