small socal get together

Tyrkon's AK was still a vicious chopper even when dulled! Even without an edge that thing would still just smash through wood! :p

... I'm willing to bet you wouldn't perform that same test (MicroTech ripoff) with one of your beloved Busses. But then again you probably don't own a Mean Street...

How about your mighty BATAC then?

You've got a set of balls if your brave enough to do that.

How deep did you hammer that thing in before you snapped it, 2 inches?

PS - I am no fan of MicroTech, but watching that video made me cringe.:(

Personally I wouldn't do that to any Busse. It wasn't done to imply that a Busse knife could handle it but the M-Tech could not. That was not the purpose. Although I think if I tried it with a FFBM it would be a stand off but that's with out saying. Any knife that thick would laugh at us.

The reason we destroyed the M-Tech is because it is a blatant Rip-Off of one of Jerry's knives. That's it. I bet we could snap a Busse MS as well but I think it would probably flex more.

So. no, I wouldn't do THAT to a Busse or any beloved knife. Especially my MIGHTY BATAC! Knives are not meant to do that. That is what a crowbar is for. ;) This was just a statement to the many rip-offs that seem to be springing up. This has been brought up before so this vid was just a culmination of that discussion.

The M-Tech actually was a hell of a lot tougher than any of us expected. At least when we batoned it into a cinder block. REALLY! But it had no flex at all.

I wouldn't do that test with the tip of a knife, not even a Busse but I've flexed the rest of one! Actually ;) more than ONE. Even the FFFBM will flex pretty well....just takes some HARD heaving! I've bent my SHBM's pretty well...enough to prove how flexible they are while always returning to true. Cobalt has a bunch of vids posted where he flexes his in between his deck boards. That Mtech had NO flex whatsoever. Very brittle!

You should see how much and how easily that AK flexes. AMAZING!! I gotta get me one o dems!!

The Mtech WAS impressive when it came to hammering it through the cinderblock and hacking it into it as well. It took some damage, but nothing that couldn't be fixed. It would hold an edge like a butter knife though. It was cheap, thin, had sharp edges where there should be none, HORRIBLE fit and finish...the scales jutted out on one side and recessed on the other. A BAD knockoff of a great design....

It was NOT a Microtech! Microtech makes great knives.

It was an MTech, which is a whole different game!

Killer vids guys. . . . . . Looks like you had a blast! Let's get some Johnny Blue and a big cooler of ice and I'll meet you in Vegas in February at the SHOT Show. . . I buried some knives out there somewhere as well. . . I think in Red Rock Canyon. . . . That was 25 years ago, so I doubt the canyon is still there. . . .. .

Jerry

It's on Boss HOG! We'll be there with a payload of JB!:thumbup:

Thanks Tykron and Jerry...

What kind of sorry SOB would market such a blatant ripoff of someone elses design... well, now we know.

What a joke!

... but they've still got nothing on the Busse fam of knives!

i have flexed my ruck at about mid blade to somewhere in the area of 20-25 degrees several times. always came back to true, though i didnt want to push it to its limits.

as you can see in the pics, i flexed my oj at the tip. id guess to about 15 degrees, hard to say for sure since the tip was imbedded in wood. the bend remained in the blade.

My future knives. Morimotem and pbusby are just "holding" them for me. ;)

My poor dead blow hammer deformed after trying to baton my AK through a knott that was about 12" in diameter. :( The AK remains unharmed. :)

NO, no, no....Mark knows that Clip Point is MINE! :D

Wow very cool, just imagine if we got together Bro. :D

Oh RG! The abuse he gave to that clip point... I just can't talk about it. :barf:

I can: He hammered it through a cinderblock, tried to throw it in the retainer wall dug around in gravel, and cut chicken wire. He then offered to to me in trade for my BATAC but I promptly refused after seeing the extent of the damage.
