I carry large folders usually like the Police3, Military, Chinook and the J.D. Smith. I'm now looking for a small folder what I'm considering is the Squeak, Dragonfly2, Chicago, and the Cat. What's your thoughts on these? Am I missing something?

Thanks,

Get the UKPK. I picked one up the other day in CTS BD1 and blue FRN...it's so cool

I'll throw in a vote for the dragonfly G10. Very nice little knife. I removed the pocketclip from mine and just drop it into the pocket for days when a larger folder is inappropriate. It feels very high quality and tough. Good price on Amazon.

For me there is such a thing as to small. The smallest Spyderco useful for me is the Sage.

For me, a smaller folder is nice to have as something to carry in towns/counties/states/jurisdictions where blade length is an issue. The state where I live can vary quite literally from town to town, so having a blade that is 2.5 inches or less is almost always a safe bet if I know I'll be going to or passing through such a town.

Of the models you mentioned, the only one I own is a D-Fly 2 G-10, and as far as I'm concerned it's the only one I really need in that size.

I decided on a UK Pen Knife with a plain edge drop point blade. Not on my list, but I'm very impressed with it. Thanks for the input guys.

Spyderco truly is the King Of Small folders and has been for some time. The Caly Jr, The Kopa, The Meerkat as well as many of the newer small models are truly better built that many production company's big blades.

I still think that the Dodo model may be the very best small specialty blade of all time. It sure seems to demand a huge price now a days that is if you can even find one. The Kiwi and Cricket are truly classics that will go down in the Spyderco Hall of Fame. And they are still popular with many users now.

Who else in the knife world makes a small blade with something as super as ZDP-189 or even VG-10 for that matter. The Lava is also a very revered small Spyder and a very versatile design I might add. If you want a small folder or even a small fixed blade then you've come to the right place.

The Dragonfly 2 with wire clip is a super light and thin knife that handles like a larger knife during use. I picked up the Salt version because I plan on using it mostly for clipping to the waist band of my swimming trunks.
In order to give the knife a proper test run I've been carrying it at work (Grounds and property maintenance) in place of my Sage1 and Military. It will do 99% of what those knives will and just as well.

I'm not a huge fan of the yellow as it shows dirt quickly so I dyed it with some green RIT dye (only color I had) and it turned out a light OD green color which is growing on me. I'll try to get some pics up eventually.

The Michael Walker is still available online. It has a 2.6" blade and carbon fiber handles (3 5/8" long). The ZDP-189 blade is very useful.
I have one in my pocket right now. It is one of my favorite small Spydercos, along with the original Kiwi and Kopa.

i got hold of a used spydy cat ,
badly off center but apart from that its one of my favs
super fast deployment !

lil knives are cool , use my lava as a money clip sometimes.

Exactly my findings as well. I've had my dfly2 frn VG10 in my pocket ever since my wife gave it to me at christmas last year. I forget I even have it, but when I put it in my hand, it feels like its much bigger and I can do just about any job with it that I might run into every day.

Here's a picture of the puke green dyed Dragonfly 2 Salt. I like the color a bit better than yellow for my purposes. Great knife!
