Small "tactical" folder, <$150?

S30V leek--it is very light and I would call it tactical. Everything meets your criteria.

+1 on the SV30 Leek or the Leek in any of its incarnations. Or if Ao isn't legal in Tasmania check out the Lee Williams designed Ener-G great knife

Benchmade Mini-grip is a great choice for someone looking to stay under 3 inches. That is exactly why I carry it and could not be happier with it. The lock is super strong and the movement, both opening and closing, is silky smooth.
It gets stabman's seal of approval.

I'd recommend any of the Ken Onion speedsafe Kershaws.Sharp as hell right out of the box and high on the neat scale....

Another +1 for the Kershaw RAM. Another nice knife worth a look is the HK 14210:thumbup:

I would say the Spyderco Para would suite you, and you can get one shipped for under $150 P.S.....Sorry everyone about mentioning Spyderco only....I mean no disrespect, and love all kinds:)

The Boker Pus CLB lineup has a few that fit the bill. The Subcom, Wharcom, and my favorite, the Subclaw are all just slightly over 2". They fit perfectly in a coin pocket of a pair of jeans, and are framelocks and tough little knives. The others in the lineup are equally as nice.

Folding knives that can be opened one handed can no longer be imported into Australia. Unless you can find these knives stocked by retailers or sold by individual sellers in Oz you can't get them. Trust me they'll be confiscated by customs and you'll possibly be charged with attempting to import a prohibited item. Some Australian websites still have some stock left but it is very limited.

I think you mean a harder use knife. Which doesn't exactly mean it's tactical. You're looking for something Small but sturdy that can hold up to even the hardest tasks, right?

Benchmade 300sn
Benchmade 755 MPR - If you look around you can find one at your price point. Beefy little Ti Frame Lock with M390 super steel.

Well if by staight I don't know if you mean a plain edge? Like non serrated? And if by tactical I don't know if you mean modern or actually tactical. Go with the para 2
