Small thick blade folder

They also make a small Vantage Pro with a 2.5in blade if you're interested in the Vantage. You probably knew that, but I'm just throwing that out there.

MUCH appreciated. I am really more of a small blade guy anyway so this really looks intriging. This is why I'm really interested in that CQC-14 Emerson. Small thick blade BUT...FULL sized handle. I may have to bite the bullet and shell out the bucks as I can't seem to find anything else quite like it

My smaller sturdy folder is BM Bone Collector (smaller model). She's a stought/chunker with axis lock..and nice g10 handle. More expensive than what you were thinking though.

Could also check kershawguys blems and see if any think talks to you. He's a great guy, has awesome prices and has a wonderful selection. I should be going home to an orange packrat today!

As a quick follow-up, gotta say the packrat is pretty stout! Seems like a lot of knife for the money..not sure of the handle yet though- might be too small for me.

For $55 you could get a buck vantage pro. Slightly over 3". Not sure how thick the blade is but it is thicker than most in its size. Bos treated S30v steel, g10 handles and a rock solid liner lock. Mine has no blade play at all and believe me, I check hard.

+1 Great knife. And for $55 ... steal.

7mm thick.

I've got a buck vantage avid, and it's a prettysturdy litle knife. You might want to check out the vantage line.

If your looking for a stubby thickish "beater " folder take a hard look at the ka-bar phat bob IMO it offers a great deal of knife for the money.

A little late in responding to this, but you might look at the Kabar Phat Bob, a design by Bob Dozier. Has a 3 1/8" blade though, if that makes a difference since you gave the high end of 3". Also will fit within your budget.
