Small Traditional Locking Knives?

Wow, that Chamblin is great looking! I really like the blade. Is that red stag?

Randy, it's dyed stag that Joel picked through personally up at Culpepper's in Otto, NC. I'd day he done good. :D:thumbup:

Thanks for all the good words on the knives, guys.

I have a Klein Tools Sportsman 44035 knife that I picked up years ago. Its a 3" (closed) knock off of the Buck 110. Made in Japan (not China), the fit and finish are very good. When open, the blade and spring mate up flush and almost undetectable.

The have a 3.5" (44036) and a 4" (44037) version as well.

Chris

I have the 44036, and I will second the good review. I have had mine since the late 80's.

I posted this after BLADE in June, which is where I got this beautiful John Howser damascus stag lockback, but I think it belongs in this thread as well.

Who makes/made 'em and what's your fave?

I have a GEC "mini" I like but it's just a hair too big for me to EDC.

Case makes a number of traditional lockback knives in various sizes and handle material -- all beautiful and well priced.

The Chamblin and Tomes are   very nice!

To mods - thank you for moving my post - I had not seen this thread.

Once in a while we get one right. ;)

(You're welcome. )

Campbell, what's the size on that one? I never saw it in person but for some reason I thought it was a big lockback...

I want to try out some traditional locking knives. Can anyone reccomend some? I'm looking only for quality knives so no bargain stuff or roughrider type stuff please. Preferably around 3.5" closed length or smaller. Thanks friend.

I have no idea of your price range
Queen put out a small lockback for about $45
I have not seen it personally

"Queen Small Lockback,
Curly Zebra Wood or Maple
Steel: D2 Carbon Size: 3"
Queen Cutlery ID: QNML8445CZ

My very favorite small lockback is the Fallkniven U2

Added:
Nobody mentioned a Case Mini-Cooperlock at 3 3/5"

Nate, Bill's and mine may be a tad over your 3.5" limit (by a quarter inch) but at least they give you some food for thought.

If I can help personally, feel free to email or PM me.

Elliot,
These are two great looking Lockbacks
That Kawamura, it's just something else!!
I would enjoy that thing!! Thanks for sharing!!!
