I made this for my wife's Birthday. A small stock removal blade from an antique saw mill blade, edge quenched. Stained curly maple coffin handle with silver wire inlay. And my first curly maple sheath, The sheath has a small magnet inlayed inside the sheath to hold it tight, it has silver wire work and two tone stained. Blade is 3 1/2" OAL 7". Hammer textured copper guard.

super sweet! Not what I was expecting wrt the shape of the blade, but a nice surprise. A chubby little bowie- cute as a button :)

Beautiful knife and sheath my friend.....I'm sure she's thrilled!

Steve,
Happy Birthday to Your Wife.
VERY BEAUTIFUL KNIFE, THOUGHTFUL GIFT.
GREAT grain pattern in the maple, NICE TASTEFUL inlay design, NEAT BLADE.

Steve,

That's some beautiful workmanship!!! Can you tell me what you stained and finished the wood with? Thanks for sharing.

Bill

Thank you for the kind comments, my wife loves the knife/sheath!

bgmills, I stained the maple with fiebings leather dye, {med brown & light brown} and four coats tung oil for the finish. I rubbed the finish with a cotton rag soaked with boiled linseed oil and made a slurry of "Rotten Stone" abrasive, and rubbed the blade with the rag also to mellow the 800 grit blade finish. Fun project I'm thinking of making a big version.
