Small Wheel on Grinder

I have been having a problem that I have never been able to figure out the remedy for and am a little reluctant to ask. When using a small wheel attachment on a grinder to grind a concave curve in a knife blank, for example the curve in a full tang blanks handle area. The problem is the belt splice making a small dip in the grind when it goes over the small wheel. I have tried several different belts and speeds. How do you guys who use the small wheels stop this? Thanks for any advice.

I just received my small wheel attachment for my KMG last week from Tracy. I have not had a chance to try it yet. I hope I do not have the same troubles??

Seems like the trizact belts don't cause those dips as much in my experience. I've had similar issues and have found the best solution for me is very slow speed and steady movement of the work piece. I'd like to get a scotch-brite belt to back the standard belt, as I've heard that works great to eliminate most of the bump. If I have to, I'll get it as smooth as I can on the machine, and then finish by hand.

Use the largest wheel you have available that fits the curve and keep it moving. The smaller the wheel is, the harder it is to keep things smooth over a large area, in my experience.

I tried the J-flex belts and still had the same problem. Thanks for the replies.
