First attempt at forged blade. Steel is 1095

It's all files and sandpaper on this one. Getting the plunge started with a round file

It is tapered in both directions, but I don't think the tang will ever be flat enough to attach scales properly. I don't really want to wrap this one, so I guess I'll just improvise.
 
Shoot, that don't look half bad! Much better than my first attempts, that's for sure. What anvil and hammers are you using?

I don't know what Anvil and hammer I used, it was at a hammer-in. I have a nice Fisher sitting in storage until I find a place to use it.
 
Actually I was playing around with some clamps last night and think I got the tang to a workable level of straightness. There may be hope yet.
 
Got the taper about finished, and nice and flat on both sides. (Bad pic, I know)

I have some more work to do on the blade, then figure out where I want my pin holes to be, then off to heat treat.

It looks like the granite plate is going to be another one of those "how did I ever live without it" tools.
