ANYBODY KNOW IF THERE ARE ANY PLANS FOR A SMALLER CHINOOK MAYBE A 31/4 INCH BLADE.??
PLAIN EDGE.

Hi Intruder. We have a design. Nothing on the production schedule at this time. We have to wait for a while to see reaction to the larger version.

I think a smaller Chinook is a great idea. I have thinned out my Chinook collection, so I have plenty of room for a smaller model.

sal i think a small chinook will cause a large reaction. i love my large chinook. but i think a smaller size would make it more of a every every day carryknife. and a 31/4 blade could go anywhere & handle everything with the style it has. great knife . ill even buy first small one you make.& maybe even the second one too.be looking for one soon!!!

There was a prototype Chinook Jr. made a long time ago. Unfortunately, I can't find any pics of it left around the net. That was back when it had a metal handle and liner-lock.

The Chinook probably is one of those designs that would translate well into a smaller version. You could go with the little Temperance too though, as that knife could fill a similar role.

I wanted to bring this one waaaaaay back from the dead. I think a smaller Chinook with a 3" blade would be great. I would carry the Chinook strong side and the Chinook Jr. weak side or the Chinook Jr. when I could not carry a larger knife.

Small Chinook!!!!!!:) Keep the blade thick though...5/32...I think that is what it is at now?:D

Note, guys, that the prototypes appear to have liner locks. Would the proposed Chinook Jr. have a liner lock or the super sturdy back lock?

My first reaction to the thought of a Chinook Jr. was "Why?", but then I thought about it a bit and realized that there are folks who really like that blade design and who would buy the knife if it were available in a size to carry in areas where a 3" blade maximum applies. I would not be one of them, as I carry my Chinook when I am in need of a super heavy duty folder, otherwise, I have other, lighter choices.

Carlos,

Are these prototypes ever sold to the public? If not, are there ever licensed Spryderco customs produced?

Oh yeah, I love the Chinook and Lil' Chinook (if it ever arrives)

Nope and nope.

Custom makers can license the round hole, and they can produce their own original designs of custom collaborations. For example, if you want a custom Lum Chinese with round hole, Bob Lum will make one for you. Likewise there are still custom versions of the large Wegner being made by Phil B, as that collaboration predates the Spyderco variant.

But the Chinook design comes from a non-knifemaker, and was developed with Spyderco, so there is no custom-made counterpart available.

I'd like to see a Chinook with a LONGER (5 inch) blade, AND a "Lefty-friendly" (reversible) pocket-clip like the Native & Endura has!!.:).
