Smaller Knives :>

Small sebenzas are just shy of 3'' I have one, and it fits well in my pocket, I cant tell its there most of the time. If you want a bit smaller than that there's the CRK Mnandi, I dont have any experience with them, but I really want to check one out

What's the deal with the G10 Dragonfly? Why not just get the FRN version? I have knives in G10, but not FRN, Is it a bad handle material?
Also, I'm not new to the knife world, so things like the Sebenza and Mnandi are common knowledge.. I was just looking for information and thoughts on other small knives.

Thanks, everyone!

Frn is very Functional good grip, lite ect. some people just don't like the looks of it.

Nothing wrong with the frn. I was about to buy one but a used g10 popped up in the exchange for just a little more money so I so I figured why not. If i had to buy at full price I would probably just get the frn.

I like slip joints for smaller carry. I just picked up a Lloyd slip joint in mammoth for 250$. 3.75 in closed, 2.75 in blade of 5200 steel. Great little knife

We all love the big, meaty, titanium frame-lock folders, right?
But today, I'm looking for something a little different, emphasis on little.
I need recommendation as to what the favored small knife is.
By "small" I'm thinking something with a blade length of around 2" - 2 1/2." 3" at most.

I prefer the 3.5" range so I don't pay much attention to anything below 3".

Right about 3" I like the Benchmade 470 Emissary. There are also small versions of their other knives that come in at about 3"- the 707 and 907 are the ones that come to mind. There is also the Bradley Alias II. Benchmade's small nice knives are the 480, 482 and 483.

Spyderco has a lot of smaller models, the Dragonfly and Sage are the ones that have interested me.

The Kershaw Cryo is very interesting, similar to ZT knives but not so much like other Kershaw knives. Lots of people like the Leek, Chive and Scalion.

I'd recommend the 707 out of those. The 470 I handled was bizarrely slightly less pocket friendly than a 707, size wise, and more of a hassle to open than a 707 (with an axis lock who needs assisted, and the goofy little safe is just an extra annoyance). It did look nice, but the 707 seemed like a better knife all around for actual use.

The Sage 1 and Sage 2 I had were really nicely built knives, though I didn't like them. But if you like Spydercos I'd suggest giving one of the Sage models a try.

I just got the BM mini barrage & the 527 prediso ultra tact...I think those are small and compact knives...

Mini-Griptilian - 2.9"
Sage - 2.75"
Delica - 2.5"
Dragonfly - 1.9"
Flash 1 - 2.4"
Twitch II - 2.4"
91mm SAKs - 2.25"
Skeletool CX - 2.4"

Kershaw Chive.. to me it does not get much better

Not sure about your price range but William Henry has several models that size (E6 EDC, B10 Lancet, B05 Monarch, etc). I have a couple B10s that I think are great and that I carry often.

++++ for the Dragonfly G-10. If you want something a little thicker from Spyderco, take a look at the Leafstorm.

Spyderco Techno is an awesome little folder. Nice steel, fit and finish, smooth, thick blade that can slice with the best of them.

Another is the Spyderco Chaparral - CF or Ti. I have the CF. This knife is a slicer, thin, lightweight, and good steel no matter which way you go.
Spyderco Caly 3 CF in ZDP-189 or Stainless VG-10 Damascus also deserve a look.

If you don't mind it not locking the Spyderco Urban or UKPK would also make a nice EDC.
