What do you guys think? Right now, I'm between a Becker Necker or a Mora 2000. Also open to other suggestions. I'd like it to be around $30. Of those two, which would you prefer? I'm leaning towards the Necker because I don't have a skeleton handled knife, but I like them.

edit: I should also add that the downside to the Necker for me is that it may be a bit short, although I guess that's what makes it a Necker.

The becker necker's handle is very short, you'll only be able to get a 3 finger grip on it, and I really dont understand the reasoning behind the placement of the humps/grooves on the handle either, not ergonomic for me at all. If you're after a skeletonized neck knife the RAT Cutlery Izula is really top notch.

The Mora 2000 is a good knife, really cant complain about it at all.

If your going to use it for slicing food/fish etc then go with the longer and thinner Mora. If your doing more bushcraft and split/prepping wood then go with the short and thick necker.

I'd get the mora, I owned a necker and it is OK. I would like it a lot better with a bit thinner steel. Chris

The Mora 2000 is about the best slicer next to real kitchen knives that I have ever seen.

Buck has some new fixed blades on the market. Full tang, US made and reasonably priced, they go under the "Bucklite Max" name.

Mora is a good design, though.

Looks like it's the Mora. Thanks guys. Other model recommendations are welcomed, but it sounds like everyone loves the Mora (which I already knew)

I've never owned or handled a Mora so I can't comment on them. I can say that I really enjoyed the size and ergonomics of the Becker Necker as well as it's ability to perform like a luch larger knife.
