I had taken my Ka-Bar out the other day and had a mess about sharpening some sticks and making feather sticks etc, I found it quite difficult getting any decent curls, admitted I still needed to finish the blade but it is still sharp and I figured the wood must be very hard !!!

Anyway I went out today and tried my little WolfPup on the same wood, I was amazed how easily my pup made tight curls...I could have made them longer and finer given more time but Mrs Pit had my dinner on !!!

Where am I goin with this ? Don't know really just to say that I never quit being impressed with this little blade and would not feel under-knifed if this was the only knife I ended up with in a SHTF situation !!!!

The Wolf Pup is one of the better TOPS designs. I think you'd do all right if it was all you had.

Full confidence to do what kind of tasks?

I mean, I was going to say my Delica 3 - then I saw the pic of your Ka Bar!

So now I'm thinking maybe my Entrek EN1 (Badger).
Great knife.

Cool pics pitdog. I don't think size really matters in this case of making wood curls. Edge gemoetry matters. I've done the exact same thing with my 1/4" thick 8" blade Tusker. :D

For me, it would be something along the lines of a Bark River NorthStar, Canadian Special, or Fox River.

I would put a lot of confidence in smaller knives, but "full"? I dunno.

Iv'e also seen some good curls made with your little PSK !!!:D:thumbup:

The smallest knife I have full confidence in is a lockblade SAK, but I'll stick with fixed blades, which is how I see the thread starting.

The smallest fixed blade, even with limited use, is the Becker BK-11 Necker. I've made some fuzz sticks, feather sticks and have whittled some with it and I'm fully convinced that this knife can go the distance with any task I choose for it to do. On dried oak, it was giving me tight curls. Not as fine as I would have liked, but that I attributed to my lack of handling time with the small blade.

As a size comparison, here's a pic of the Necker next to it's big brother, the BK-7.

Yeah they were a great little knife bro, I hope they start making them again soon !!!

There is one of my next purchases pitdog that little wolf pup looks awesome. I like little knives that are tough and sharp, especially for shorter hikes with the family. One question how does the wolf pup fit and handle in hand? Thanks

I guess the smallest knife I am fully confident in would be my Protech Stinger. It's been my edc for a couple years and I never feel underknifed, although I should specify that I only carry it in town.

Fallkniven WM1 is my choice. I just have to add a firesteel to the sheath and everything will be great :)

The "tiniest" knife that I have full confidence in is my TOPS Scalpel.
For "smallest", it's got to be my Game Warden.:thumbup: :)

The handle is short but due to it's robust size it fills the hand well and gives a good grip.....it feels like a little tank of a knife if you know what I mean !!!

Im going to have to go with longbow on this. I love my BK-11 and if I could only EDC one of the knives I own, that would be it.

BenchMade HK29 AKA, 14210 model. Plain edge, 154CM steel blade, slight recurve, and Axis lock. Its small but the lock is stronger than many so called heavy duty folders being sold as hard use.

I'd say this one

I beat the crap out of this knife with a batonwith no ill effects:thumbup:

This is a neck knife I made several years ago. I had a piece of steel left over from another project, and made this little baby. Designed on a whim... it has served me well as an all around utility knife.... 3"blade, 3.5"handle.
