This is a great little knife for what you are using it for. Will also workon larger game as well.

What's up Phil, the internet is a small place.:D
Howdy RB! :p Seen ya around here, figured we'd hit the same thread sooner or later, since we seem to have similiar interests. I had some problems at the gun website we were involved in, haven't been back for a while, lost interest. Got involved in things that I should not have, you know the situation, and it sickened me out of participating much there. Dumped the relined .17M2, cases wouldn't extract at all, and it wouldn't keep ten bullets on a sheet of paper at 50 yards. Just didn't work out at all, no more bottlenecked rimfires for me. If I get any more rimfires, it'll be .22 LR or .22 WMR. A Kimber 82 in .22 WMR would be perfect to go alongside the .22 long rifle I have, but they're pretty expensive. Any luck this year's squirrel season? I've been getting a few, not what I'd call a great year, but infinitely better than last year, it was the worst ever.

Yeah I have some bad instances over there and got tired of all the bickering and don't go back either. This is a really nice forum without all the know it alls.

I hear you on the bottle necked rimfires they are not my cup of tea either, I only own LRs and one maggie. I never figured what they were so good for except taking your money, IMO they won't kill as good as the 22s just shoot a bit flatter, heck I will just sneak closer and kill it for sure.:D

I have had a real good squirrel season with lots of squirrels, I have a one year old pup that I have been training. Hunting him I didn't kill nearly as many as I would have still hunting but I had a real good time and my pup is coming on strong.

Nice to have you around, Chris

How about a Buck "Woodsman". If you want to fillet larger fish try one of the Mora fillet knives.

For some reason I never much cared for the woodsman when i saw pics of it, that is until i recently had the opportunity to play with one! Now i'm in love with it. The perfect small fixed blade. I'm hoping to order one soon, at least by spring. Need to let my wallet recover first though (went on a SAK buying spree recently).lol.
Any of the Moras would also be a good bet.

You want a small slender blade. A Kabar 1226 (Little Finn) is good, as is a Buck Woodsman. Moras that are 3.75 to 4" will do the job. You don't need anything too large, just sharp and thin. Short blades work well.

Since no one has mentioned it, take a look at the SOG Field Pup. Pretty nice all around use blade and if you like fixed blades, it works great. It won't let you down. I sometimes use mine in the kitchen and certainly use it on picnics and camping outings. It is just a good all around blade and worth the price.

I frequently just use a pocket knife with a skinning blade (i.e. trapper model) for small game or fish. Works well and I think you are more likely to have it with you. If you aren't doing tons of fish, SAKs work fine too. For a pocket knife, just look at the Case or Queen line and pick yourself out one. Remember this is for use, so get one that fits your hand. A tiny knife may feel good in the pocket, but not so great for actually using it on game.
