Hi Guys, We just received the "First" ever single bolster Billet Trapper made by Smith & Sons Knife Company. If you are a collector in particular, this is a must have. These custom slip joints are OAL 7 1/2"-CLOSED LENGTH 4 1/8"-BLADE STOCK 1/8"-BLADE STEEL D2-SATIN FINISH D2-WARM GROOVED AMBER BONE SCALES-NICKEL SILVER BOLSTER-NICKEL SILVER PINS-BRASS PINS-THE NICKEL SILVER BOLSTER/LINERS ARE ALL MILLED INTO ONE SOLID PIECE FOR ADDITIONAL STRENGTH. I cannot begin to stress how beautiful these are. The fit and finish on these "one off's" are impressive to say the least! You can only find these at HKS!!
Nickel silver ( also called German Silver or white brass ) provides more than ample strength & durability for a slip joint. The "billet" design greatly increases strength as there are no soldered or welded joints to fail between the bolsters/liners. There are no screws to come loose. It is far less inclined to gall than ss when grit gets into the joints. The raised pins.....besides aesthetic appeal, can be adjusted, if necessary over the years. Nickel silver is more expensive than ss but adds an elegance that ss just doesn't supply. While it can tarnish, it is easily hand polished. Nickel Silver offers a nod toward traditional folders in both look and feel. These knives are designed to be carried, used & handed down for generations.
