Interesting. Think the S&W knives might get a bit better?

"Kingsport, Tenn.-based Taylor Brands has been a longtime licensee for Smith & Wesson and M&P branded knives, and is the direct owner of brands such as Schrade, Uncle Henry, Old Timer, and Imperial. Smith & Wesson’s Chief Executive James Debney said the acquisition would help the company grow its accessories division “by expanding into adjacent and complementary markets.”

yep just saw that in the business news. wonder if the quality of materials and fit and finish and such will be going up or down. same goes for pricing. my money says down on quality and such and up on pricing based on s&w current management and their continuous downgrade of quality in their firearms and raising prices for what you get over the last decade plus.....

we shall find out......

Agree. S&W sure ain't what it used to be. :(

No, they will not get "better." They are not trying to. They are expanding into an adjacent market, meaning they are buying a company that sells the same type and level of stuff they do.

They are just getting bigger. Not better.

I thought taylor brands produced smith and wesson knives. Quality will probably stay the same and production continue as usual.

Seriously? I'm not sure which is worse. Together they definitely add up to crap.

Copying my post from the other topic:

I hope this will not have an effect on the wonderfully low prices of S&W and Schrade knives that we have been enjoying for many years now.

If S&W is going to shift all manufacturing out of China and Taiwan, replace the 7cr17 and 8cr13mov steels with underwhelming 420hc and then raise prices because of increased labor and materials cost, i'm bailing out and staying with SanRenMu and Enlan exclusively.

That, or jump ship to Kershaw.

I believe Taylor sources their knives from a variety of places. Why limit yourself to any brand, much less Kershaw, Enlan or whatever? We are knifeknuts, thus no need to be rational :)
