So I got the SOG kinda sharp enough to cut paper but not as good as the grasshopper and far from the factory sharpness of a VG-10 spyderco. I also stropped it on a newspaper as suggested.
I noticed for the SOG that the edge on one side of the blade is "deeper" and "Taller" than the other perhaps maybe by 2-3 times. This seems to make it difficult for the SOG to cut paper if the blade is more than 60 degrees on the paper. It seems to cut best from 20-30 degree angle.
Oh yeah and I got access to a car this weekend. Since sandpaper is within my budget, what grade do you guys recommend? I recall seeing at home depot the highest grade being around 400. But at the same time I have seen people saying that they used 1000 grit plus sandpaper for sharpening...
Once again thanks for all the great replies and helpful advice!
