Smoke and Prayers for Roger Smith

WE haven't seen much of this notorious khuk shark this last year. His business, very successful, in the helping profession, was defrauded, misused, stolen from and generally kicked around like a reformed prostitute by a drunken husband.

IN 30 minutes he finds out if he can salvage it. Lawyers, meetings, red tape, blaa blaa blaa- the needless stupidity society endures for 'rightness'. Lord knows if you just looked at this man's character you wouldn't care what evil hurt his business, you'd simply let it resume as ONE OF THE GOOD GUYS.

So he's at Crossroads of Life Time. We know what that's like.
The great news is this man is a doer and mover. He is upbeat. His optimism is contagious, and believe me brothers, I need it. He was one of those who wrote to me urging that I write seriously and find a book worth telling about.

He is going to have a baby. With help from his wife in April. The way this guy dotes on his kids you and I would be so lucky as to be reborn into his family.

I forget the stupid name he calls himself here..some damn thing about counselor to the Duck. Yee Gads. Talk about pouring gas on a fire.

But anyway, sometimes we need a little prayer boost not just for real pain and tragedy, but because of general chaos and Soul moments.

Send them if you can. I don't expect most good wishes to make it in time for the meeting, but just being around is good enough.

Done. Business is a bit** no matter what kind it is. There aren't many "good guys" left in the business world. Here's a little prayer that this one stays in the game.

LOL!It wasn't all one sided ,he gave as good as he got!Prayers sent, many of them,& often.& my thanks for being a bud!
THE DUCK!

Boys,
First, let me say that I consider you my brothers. THis post takes a bit of time but I need to wipe some tears away. Tears of joy and thankfulness. For all of you.

THe bad news first. The agency decided to not renew my contract. That's bad. Thay associate me with that lying ba$&^*. Since May, I've pulled the problems out of the tank and been told as of 3 days ago that they "were commited to keeping you going."
This is 4 days until our clients have no services. Besides the obvious unfairness, the disreuption in a DD person's life is tremendous. They've asked if they can rent our bldg and our curriculum. Makes me feel like they are asking me to hold the soap so they can position the barrel.

The good news is that all of my clients and providers are loyal and up in arms. A truly sad day was ended last night with laughter, hugs and a few promises.
I have a good attorney on my side. HE believes that if we can come up with a structure that does not include me as a principal shareholder or executive, that my new agency can be approved.
What does that mean? The approval paves the way for ALL of the soon to be former clients to come back. As the plan will not include me, and Jeana is a majority shareholder in the corp, this is going to happen.
I feel they are doing this to punish me, but are doing so at the expense of the people I love. My clients, who are more friend that customer. My staff who have never worked for me but with me.
Recently, I learned of a new organizational theory called Social Capital. PEople are invested in their jobs and more friends with co-workers than anything else. This is what we have here. We love each other. There is no class diistinction, no heirarchy and no distance between us.
I've never worked in a better aura of acceptancce and trust in my life.

What it means is that we'll be a bit tight here on the home front. I'll cut back on everything until we get things back to normal. Jeana and I were talking a few days ago about my attorney working for us full time. Now, we'll make him a minority share holder and he'll help us get back on track.

I think that there is a story about chickens and eggs hatching, but I believe that if you do the right thing in the right way for the right reason, you'll do okay. I feel that whatever higher power you refer to puts us together for a reason. There was a reason for these things.

I am hopeful for the future and the smoke definitely helps.

If there was ever a time I am glad to have friends like you gentlemen, it's today.

Thanks,
Roger

p.s. now that things are a bit frazzled that could mean a whole lot more of me 'round here.
thanks again.

p.p.s. Munk, tried to call you but no answer. Will try later.

Well, it's not good news on it's face. But where and when did I decide Life was fair, or that only bad people do bad things? A lot of harm, perhaps most harm is done by good people acting rightieously. What they think is right, anyway.

NO redemption in this society. We love punishment. We like hanging the dirty laundry around people's necks and letting them run through the town with it on. Who said the stocks were gone, or Witch hunts?

I told you Roger was optimistic. He's a doer. He exists through the definition of participation and interaction with Life. He does good.

I'm on page 102 of my book and wondering if anyone will ever read it. Roger would probably tell me to write 500 more.

I remember the lesson of the Yearling, the real lesson, not the one sugarcoated. We lose; we do the best we can, and sometimes we lose anyway.

I swore I'd not go down without trying. Roger makes it look easy. No, that's not right; he makes it look like there is no other choice.

BTTT

Roger is going to attempt to keep the business in another way and still needs good thoughts in our air.

It would be nice if he had a source of income when his baby arrives in April.

Best wishes still going out. Things will work out for Roger. Sooner or later everything will come together for him. In my limited experience there are 2 kinds of people in the world. There are those that get the rugged pulled out from under them, land square on their @$$ and blame the rug, blame the slick floor, and refuse to get up because it hurt and might happen again. And then there are those that take the fall, curse their sore rear for a second, get up, brush themselves off, and get back on the rug and stand a little harder vowing to not let -that- happen again. As you can see, it takes a lot more work to get up again. It sure isn't as easy and pointing fingers and pining about the boo-boo on your butt. Roger will get back on the rug, i'm sure. He is too much like the stead-fast fellas that populate the cantina not to. Prayers to him and his family for a quick resolution to this mess.

Jake

You've plainly forgotten those like myself, who get up, blame the rug, the floor, themselves, Time almighty, and who then kick the rug savagedly before once again resuming life.
