I never thought i'd post one of these threads, I was hoping i'd never feel the need. But right now, I'm pretty shook up seeing as my eldest son and daughter both live so far away now. I feel helpless, near tears and sick to my stomach. Especially after almost losing their mother, my wife to an MVA 3 years ago....i'm almost having flashbacks as i write this.

My sons wife was in a head on collision with another vehicle in florida this afternoon. Both cars were totaled but all parties made it out alive with minor cuts, scapes and bruises. Word has it my daughter in law was knocked by the dash and airbag, seat and all into the backseat. Thank goodness for airbags, or this probably would've been much worse. The accident was apparently her fault though.
She is banged up as all hell, but is home resting now.
I don't have all the details yet, as my son is quite frazzled what with caring for his wife and fielding phone calls from friends and family.

I guess i'm just asking for positive thoughts, prayers and some smoke to be sent their way and also for the others involved, so that everything turns out all right. These are good kids with a better life, jobs etc...than i've ever been able to achieve, i just want the best for them and hope that things turn out alright.

Smoke goin' out for your family.

I was in an accident back in May, I hit a tree head on at 45 mph, the airbag and seatbelt saved my life, walked away with a broke thumb, I was in such good shape, the EMTs let me walk home, (I was less than 1 mile from home) my BP was 96/72 they said I could've been sleepin', BTW I swerved to avoid a deer, (next time I hit 'em).

We seldom think about needing to post one of these threads for ourselves but it does happen way too often too suit any of us!

Focus on how much better the outcome was, not how bad it could have been. You can't help but feel shaken, hearing about this, but stay calm if they need any help getting through the upset themselves. Very scary, she still needs to get checked out (it hurts much worse the next day) but this was only a warning, fortunately.

prayers and positive thoughts your way.

we're all in this together

Thanks very much guys!

I had to go to my happy place for awhile to get calmed down. My hands started shaking so bad i had a helluva time starting this thread. This accident dredged up some feelings i've been holding in, i guess and it being our kids and their being so far away probably magnified it.
I have been focusing on how fortunate she is....all of them were to come out of this as well as they did and i'll continue feeling fortunate that things arent worse. They are young and will learn and bounce back good as new i hope.....and i'll have a new crop of gray hairs.

Glad she is OK

Grey hairs are the badge of good parenting or at least that is what I keep telling myself :)

Sad to hear about the crash, glad to hear your daughter-in-law's ok. Gotta hand it to the guys and girls working on car safety technology. Fifteen - twenty years ago I'm guessing that such a crash would have ended much worse.

Going up, Karda! :)

Kathy's asleep right now, (She's got a pretty bad cold/sinus infection thing going on) but when she wakes up, I'll get her in on the intercession action, too. ;)

Smoke up for you and yours, Karda. We're always here to help however we can.

Prayers sent from SC. Hope your daughter-in-law heals soon and the memory of this event is replaced by happier events to come. Take care.

Aint that the truth! We seem to get enough smoke threads here and i hesitate to post any at all. I'm still getting used to the fact that i'm getting to the age where i'm attending more funerals than weddings.

I can only hope so....the last 10 years has wreaked havoc on my family.
I still keep hoping for a little respite to a beach with boucin' bikini's, beautiful sunsets and a short stay in Margaritaville.

I've read a boatload of these threads and it still always amazes me how our little group takes care of each other........You guys are all great people.THANK YOU for that everyone!
