Guys, thanks so very much for the response. I'm sure it helped.
Grant regained consciousness today and is breathing on his own with a regular heartbeat. Docs think it was a rare kind of arhythmia that occured. My dad is a doctor and went to see him.
Apparantly he is still not fully out of the woods. He doesn't yet recognize his family or friends, but he knows his own name, which is a good sign. He's also paranoid, which is entirely normal, given the situation. When my dad, who is also a close friend, went to see him, he was rather confused and pointed angrily at my father, accusing, "You're here to kill me!" Let's hope this phase passes quickly.
He, however, is supposedly better than could reasonably have been expected. According to the Docs, it's a real miracle. My dad couldn't be more pleased with the progress. He's seen cases like this be completely normal in a few days, so let's hope! Definately keep him in your thoughts, but at least his life isn't in danger any more. Thank God his college-age daughter was there and knew CPR. That the paramedics came fast and acted appropriately. So many things went right, I'm amazed.
Thanks again guys. I have no doubt that your support helped. If and when he's all better, we'll have a laugh and he'll probably be touched that people around the world cared enought to spare a thought. It really means a lot.
I'll keep you all posted. Thanks again.
