Thanks, people!
Went to the Sylvester research center today for a look-see with a henoatological oncologist, and learned more in the hour (yes, an hour) we spoke, than I had in the past 3 years. Apparently my form of cancer is found in less than 5% of patients with Hodgkins. The good thing is that it's pretty slow; the bad is that it often turns into NON-Hodgkins lymphoma, which is WAYYY more agressive.
The cancer has spread across my neck, and the mass are 3-4cm each. I have an appointment to meet with a surgeon for a biopsy next Tuesday, and after the biopsy we'll know more about a protocol. If it is still Hodgkins there's a chance I won't have to have stem cell rescue, but if it has morphed, then I will have to have an autologous procedure, which would mean having my stem cells removed from my marrow, hitting me with chemo, then reinserting the stem cells. Sounds like some scary sci-fi type ish.
Anyway, I appreciate all the kind words, prayers and positive energy. You guys really are some of the best.
JVB--sorry to hear about your wife's G-Ma. It's pretty despicable, man. I hope the scumbag is found and she gets her things back.
My parents have made the best of the situation. My dad, who lost 8 guitars, went and bought just two replacements, and is very happy with them. They already received their settlement, and have decided NOT to replace most of their stuff. Instead, they paid off their remaining debt, and now aside from the house, are debt-free. Spending 22.5 years in the USAF taught my dad how to roll with the punches. He's done his best to teach md the same.
I've had to offer up a bunch if knives, just to make sure we're prepared for me possibly being out of work, and I'm looking into getting rid of my G35s, but on the other hand, I've owned some nice things, and I have made some great friends and met good people. What is their to complain about?
Smoke up for anyone suffering tough times. And for all those dealing with job losses, keep your heads up. Times will get better!
Respect and regards,
Jason
