Any of you ever had the chance to go to smokey mountain knife works in severville tn. This place is like heaven

I was there in May of 2012. I personally liked the knife museum upstairs and the small knife workshop out in the parking lot. I forget the guys name that made knives in the shop but he was very knowledgable and pleasant to talk to.

I live in a crap knife town with no knife stores besides rei or sportsmans ( a few gunshops have some nice stuff tho). The only cool thing is I live an hour from the spyderco outlet. I wish there was something like smokey mountain near by, id be there monthy if not weekly!

Yeah the store is pretty fun to walk around and the museum is cool. I went down to take my daughter to her family reunion and that area is like white trash heaven. :thumbup:We had a blast checking out all the tourist traps.

I've had the pleasure of visiting several times--lots of fun. In all honesty though, the prices are high--especially with Tennessee sales tax.

That name sounds right. Regardless, I talked to him at length about everything from Damascus to stone and rock formation. It was neat because once inside of the cabin-like workshop, you forgot you were even in the middle of a parking lot. Plus it didn't appeal to the wife....win win

My family stopped there during a vacation once, long before I caught the bug and I did not yet appreciate where I was. IIRC, that particular stop was my father's idea and now that I think about it, I have no idea why he wanted to go there. He's not a knife nut; never has been.

That place is dangerous..... For my wallet. Usually go once a year to Gatlinburg and its a tradition to stop on the way out.

Bought a small pocket-knife there once. Took it down to the shop and had the guy grind one of the small blades into a plain-head screwdriver. Used that knife to tweak my "machines" for quite a few years when I was working. Finally lost it. Bummer.
Had fun there. Nice place. But I'd rather live near the Spyderco OUTLET.

I live in the same town and rarely visit. It does have some interesting things to see if you are a knife enthusiast and they have a great selection of many different brands. The pricing and 9-10% sales tax is generally what keeps me from buying much.

I am about 45 min drive on a slow traffic day. Its been a while sense I have stopped by but I used to pick up some really great deals on clearance sale Spydercos. Got an awesome deal there once on 2 Microtech LCCs,they had them hid in the back of a showcase marked all the way down to 69.99 each. Bought 4 Delta Z Ospreys the same day at 15.99 each. I had a grin on my face all the way home.

My trips to the Smokies always included a trip to SMKW. If you are a Victorinox fan, they often have "retired" or discontinued models.
