Since the Congress is a traditional pattern and pipe smoking is a "traditional" pastime I thought it appropriate to post this here.
This is my first attempt at making a Congress pattern folder. It was not too difficult, but the springs being very nearly the same (less than 0.1mm difference) had me chewing my wrists. Next time I'll punch or etch some mark so I know which is which.

Some specs:
89mm closed length, 13mm thick, 64 grams (3.5", 1/2" and 2.25 ounces)
1070 blades and springs, bronze bolsters and pinning, brass liners, mammoth tusk covers

Now that´s a great knife. I´m a pipesmoker time-by-time. This knife is gonna be a great tool for any knifefriend and pipefriend. Nice combination :) I can already see the wharncliffeblade cutting some flake- and plugtobacco.

The mamouthscales look really great, Sir!

Thank you for sharing!

Kind regards

oooh, that's very nice. You definitely captured the essence of an old-time smokers knife. Great work.

Very nice, I'm a pipe smoker, I like that you included a sheepsfoot blade, unlike others like the laguiole pipe knife.

Absolutely stunning work. Any pipe smoker would be proud to have such a companion.

I have never smoked in my life, but that is a unique and beautiful knife. The scales are superb.

My great-grandfather smoked pipes and I can say without a doubt he would have absolutely loved this high-end knife. Classy and purpose-built. Thanks for sharing pix of this unique piece.

wow. just wow. have you ever seen a knife that you never knew you needed? i love my pipe and my traditionals, but i never thought of combining them. kudos on the ingenuity.

Very nice design! After kicking a 21 year old cigarette habit 8 years ago, I only do 2 or 3 cigars a month. My dad smoked a pipe and he would have LOVED this tool. Like fountain pens, your aiming at a niche. I think that if strategically marketed, you will find an enthusiastic audience for this piece of art. Let us know how this all progresses.

Beautiful work, TB!! Makes me think of taking it up again!!

That is a great design and beautifully executed.

If I'd come across that little guy back when I was a pipe smoker, I'd have been very excited. Come to think of it. I'm excited just looking at it now. Great job!

Thnk you all for the kind words. I spoke to many pipe smokers to come up with a design, and each one has his own idea of what such a knife should look like. The bottom line was that it should be light and small enough to carry in a tobacco pouch.
It seems to strike the right chords as I already received an order for one in damascus.
