"Smoking Hole Pistol Design" knives...??

It sure looks like those knives would be a PITA so resharpen. The designs are unique to say the least, but I can't say I like them much. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder really applies to them.

I can live without their knives, but I'd like one of their STP pistols.

Definitely cool looking. Almost got put on my "gotta have" list, until I read "right hand chisel". Oh well. I shall continue my search for the perfect knife.

Hi Jonas,

Personally I don't really like any of them.

The Mantis is the only one I could see myself buying., and that 2nd edge would have to be dull.

Later,
John

I see images of Mike Franklins Hawgs when I glimpse at the Smoking Holes. Both of their designs are RADICAL! Don' t bring them to a tupperware party!

I have two folders on order (large and small Mantis) and should have both in about a month or two when I get them I will let you know what I think. Both of these knives will see very hard use, and I should know in a short time how they hold up and sharpen

Waitasec...the Mantis in particular has a LOT of design elements of the Ryan Biohazard, don't it? And that insignia is the same one found on Biohazards.

Is Ryan involved in the design process?

If that Mantis really has a 5.2" blade, they've got my attention. I'll be real interesting in seeing a review.

The Biohazard has a linerlock set up in such fashion that it can't be accidently triggered by the forefinger, it's a very good design. I hope Ryan is connected to this series.

I have a set of the Chaos neck knives and they are excellent for the purpose in which they were designed. They were designed by Tamishigiri from here on bladeforums. Ryan has been influential on Aaron Harris from Smoking Hole. He is an up and coming maker who is not shy about seeking advise and input from end users, and other makers, and then using his technical skill to execute the design. While I don't like all of his designs, I do like a couple and plan to get one of the smaller Ti fixed blades. If you like hi-tech exotics, these are great pieces.
