Elkmont Camp Ground. It was our first time there so we were not sure where to stay and we had to stay at a place where we could car camp since my boys cant carry their own rucks.
Hindsight being what it is, we would have liked to stay somewhere where there was more space between campsites, but we had a blast on the trails during the day.

Thanks for the pics! I go out there at least 2-3 times a year. All the campgrounds are like that but I think Deep Creek doesn't seem as bad because there's a lot of rhodo interspersed between sites. I like going over to Cataloochee when the elk are bugling. It's a hoot watching them posture for females. Reminds me of my own youth. Not near so many folks on that side of the park either.

A couple of my favorite short hikes are:

Andrews Bald 3.6 miles round trip. TH at Clingman's Dome parking lot. (the reddish bushes are blueberry bushes)


Chimney Tops 4 miles round trip. TH on Newfound Gap rd.
