To those that have been there like myself I just have to ask. When you come over the last rise and you see the beautful big blue roof; does your heart beat amediately start to pick up, you do a quick scan for Sevierville Police, and then you kick it down the rest of the way to the parking lot(I'd bet I'm not the only one)?

Went there last Labor Day weekend. Traffic was backed up so bad that I couldn't have kicked it down if my life depended on it. It was bumper to bumper from the exit ramp on I40 all the way to our resort in Sevierville. Took us a little over 2 hours to get from I40 to Walmart in Sevierville. A distance of maybe about 8 or 10 miles. We almost could have walked faster than that.

We visited SMKW the next day and traffic was a lot better. I loved it and my wife seemed interested too.

Speaking of traffic. There were signs saying that two lanes were closed on I40 as we were getting close to the exit to SMKW....PANIC....would we be sitting in a traffic jam waiting????
Well, as soon as we got to the exit ramp we could see that traffic was at a complete standstill just after the ramp entrance! WHEW! We jumped right off the highway!
Some really nice employees of SMKW gave us great directions to go through some beautiful scenic roads that allowed us to completely avoid the construction area when we left.

Any where around Sevierville, Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg is no place to be on holidays and on weekends during the fall colors at least not for me any ways!

speaking of Pigeon Forge, anyone see the pearl ringed bolster knife in the Titanic museum, looked like a two-blade but couldnt tell the brand. neat knife.

I make it a point to stop by SMKW every time I visit ol' Gatlinburg... Dang if those pics don't make wish I was up there now. :(

Great photos....I went there a few years back it is a nice place just wished they had a bigger selection of american made knives

I have lived my entire life 20 minutes from SMKW. My weekly trips have been slowed, because I don't think divorce would be fun! Check out their website if you have Dish or direct tv, they have a knife show on Tuesdays and Fridays. As far as traffic goes, next time get out the dusty GPS and search for Veterans Pkwy, Boyd's Creek, or Chapman Hwy, these are three of several "back-ways" into Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg, depending on where you are coming from.

I stop by three/four times a year when I am driving by on I-40. It is always... should we stop at Bass Pro or Smokey Mt Knife Works? I generally rotate the visits. It is worth a visit and allow at least an hour for the visit.

I go there every year. My folks have a place near there that they winter over in. While Im there for the holidays I bet I make 3-4 trips there just to make sure I see everything. Its kind of my "Graceland"....lol!
