I have made 3 purchases from SMKW in the past month or so. Each purchase was for 2 or 3 closeout priced knives, so not for very much money.

All 3 packages shipped within a day of my order. All contents were as ordered, none that had any glaring faults at all, except for an apparent designed in stiffness of the Cold Steel Twistmasters that I bought.

I have been very impressed with the fact that the knives listed in stock have always been in stock, though purchased within hours of going out of stock. The packages were all professionally done, and arrived in good shape with no damage to boxes or contents.

All my transactions have been on line, so I can't address dealing with employees and that level of customer service. However, their speed and professionalism on my low dollar on-line purchases have exemplified good service in my mind.

Hi Bugs... I used to buy from them when I first started collecting knives, and never had a complaint. I have heard though, that they do sell seconds. In retrospect, thinking back I did notice that there were just little things that were wrong with their Case, Fighting Rooster, and knives of that sort. I wouldn't mind if I was told they were seconds, but when they don't tell you... Well, that is just wrong.

Oh Well, it is just water under the bridge know. Sorry for rambling.

Bugs3x,

Thanks for the great post. We are very proud of our distribution center and I am going to make sure that our employees in our warehouse get to read your post. I think it will make their day.

narruc1,

We do sell seconds (at great disounts) but I guarantee that they have been marked seconds in our catalog for as long as I have worked here. All product listed on our website is first run from the factory unless otherwise noted.

Thank you both for the kind words, have a great day!

Getting the Smoky Mountain catalog in the mail is ALMOST as good as getting a Victoria's Secret(although Victoria cant have too many more secrets) catalog. Smoky Mountain sometimes has some great closeouts. They also sell some crap, like the GENUINE Pakistani bowies for about $4. You just have to know what you are looking for. I remember a little while back, that they had Buck Master series knives on closeout. I picked up 2 of the model 119 bowies for a lot less than $100 each. Try and find one for that now. Plus, they sell Hen & Rooster(or Hen & Chicken, as my wife calls them). I too have had nothing but good luck with Smoky Mt., but I do wish they would stop selling the Pakistani and India and China junk. Who buys that stuff anyway?

Hey Bugs, I like SMKW for many reasons, but I guess it's mostly that they take care of you when you purchase from them. Just got an email from the webmaster today - and was extremely happy.

They're also responsive and pay attention to this forum - I just noticed today that they added a link from their home page that tells all about their Shipping and Handling charges - that was quick!

Anyway - I agree that the pakistani stuff is total crap - but am a Case, Buck, Hen & Rooster man myself - as to who buys the pakistani stuff - I think its the fantasy nerds who can't afford real fantasy knives - to each his own I guess, I just always wonder what horrible disease I might get if I accidentally cut myself with one of them.
