Smoky mountain knife works!

BJE be sure and give youself lots of time to really see everything! This post is making me home sick thinking about it!

I Love going to SMKW, I live only about 1.5 hours from the (closer to Bimmer since I moved) yet I still find it hard to get time to just go "poke around".

I'm sure you'll have a great time. I envy you for your Fudge hunt, I love Fudge too. Alot of places will let you try a sample, some I think taste a bit "waxy" so I would urge you to try a sample before buying.

We were there a month ago. I spend time upstairs with the knives and my wife is downstairs with the kitchen and household items. Well worth the stop!!!!

I was just there yesterday and enjoyed it. I bought 3 Case knives, Jr.Scout in Mammoth Ivory, 3.5 Whittler in red stag, and a 3 5/8 Stockman in red stag.. I also bought a 3 5/16Queen Cutlery Stockman in Amber Stag Bone.

That place is great for looking at the knives you never got to handle. I wouldn't suggest purchasing them there. $$$$$$. When I was there they didn't have any benchmades or Chris Reeve knives. You would think a place like that would have some.

I second that. I stopped by there on the way back from Blade earlier this year. A fantastic store and it took a few hours to even cruise through it quickly! The volume of knives there you can handle is mind blowing.

The prices however, from what I saw, were full MSRP. Better to go there, handle some knives to see what you like, and look for a better deal.

The place was impressive enough to see once, but as a result of the prices, I do not need to go back.

Just my $0.02.

hat place cost' me enough money online, I better not go there with any real money.

To be really honest about my personal knife buying, I generally buy my kitchen knives there. You just can't find that kind of a selection and inventory in many places. I like to look around, and usually buying something else, but generally most of my money spent there is in the kitchen department.

BJE - Just a suggestion, be sure and keep on eye on your Gas as you travel. I live approx 100 miles East of Sevierville (just this side of the VA Border) and there is no Gas here now.

Perhaps you could send a PM to Bimmer and see what the situation is in and around Gatlinburg.

Yes. I drove around last night and fuel is at a premium right now. Gas prices jumped over $1 per gallon in less than 48 hours. It went from $3.55 per gallon to $4.50+ almost over night. I have heard many people say that gas is sold at at many pumps locally and many tourists have said that getting fuel between Florida and here is difficult. Many stations are out or are charging up to $5 per gallon for regular unleaded.

Since there is a muscle car show in Pigeon Forge this weekend there is an above average use of fuel. Interestingly, I hear these car owners speeding up and down the road all hours of the night apparently not concerned about their over usage of fuel.

With the 'Ike' excuse, gas here in the SE is skyrocketing... you may need that moola just for gas! Looking in SMKW is free... don't take a credit card in there with you! Neat place - I love the mountains. My wife loves the coast... it's been a while since I've been to the Smokies... may be longer... bah! Have fun there.

Thanks for the heads about the gas. I have been going through the same thing hear in York, SC but I think it is over for us now. All my local gas stations now have gas and the average is higher but still tolerable at $3.8?, it was $3.58 three days ago. I saw every gas station in york run out of gas in one day, people were tailgating at the pumps waiting on the tanker. It was chaotic and foolish panic, on the plus side our tiny town made in on the news.

If your in that area (Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge/Sevierville) check out the Tennessee Museum of Aviation at Gatlinburg Airport. Its definitely worth the trip and just about all of their collection flies.
