I ordered a "Camillus® Lockback" from eknifeworks.
I get it, and it WAS a camillus knife previously. The Camillus tang stamp was ground off (you can still see the end of the S), and Western + USA is printed on it. The handle looks unfinished, with sharp square corners on the wood, which is dry and doesn't look like it has any kind of protective finish. I have seen the Camillus 5" lockback with black wood inserts before, and it doesn't look like this POS.
The only thing in the product description to indicate it wouldn't be exactly what it was described as is "tang stamp may vary." No mention of it looking like a half-finished factory reject! "May vary" is a very kind way of avoiding directly stating it is ground off entirely. It's not like it was just a different stamp used, the knife was modified (and not in a very professional-looking way either).
I called to complain. It's not so much the $15 I paid (heck, I can finish off the handle myself and make it look like a prize), it's the constant generous descriptions they use (this isn't the first time), so my request was not a refund but that they change the description. They sure have some interesting ideas about what they can and can't do!
Oops, left off the main detail. The "vendor" gave them the description and apparently Smoky Mountain is not allowed to change it.
