smooothest folder

I own one AXIS lock knife...a BM 610 Rukus. It is by far the smoothest operating folder I have ever handled.

how much can your hands afford?

the smoothest folders i have held are customs by stan fujisaka.

and my lightfoot and hinderer are pretty darn smooth.

Smoothest? Customs are usually smoother than production, especially if they have bearing mechanisms.

Phil B, RJ Martin, JWS, Larry Chew, Brad Duncan,

for productions, the ones that were smooth in which I handled are SOG Pentagon Elite, Sebenza, and Bob Lum Dejavoo

If you are looking more in the $100 dollar range, the smoothest opening knife ive handled is the benchmade 740 dejavoo

Are you looking for action smooth or texture smooth? For a production folder, the Spyderco D'Allara Drop Point has the smoothest action I have experienced, but the texture is pretty darn grippy :D

I've got the D'Allara in both drop point and rescue (sheepsfoot) blades, and while the drop point is very smooth, my rescue is on another planet for smoothness. Don't know why, and maybe the drop point will get smoother with more use, but for now its hands down.

Remembering that smoothness is to be determined independent of stiffness, my smoothest knives are my Sebenza, Buck Mayo and Waimea, and my Spydero Para. I have two different mini-Grips (Cabelas D2 and mini-Ritter) but they are not quite as smooth. My son has a standard 154CM mini-Grip that is noticeably smoother, and is as good as my best ones.

And lest I forget, my Moki Glory certainly qualifies for the smoothest category.

My smoothest folders: ( I own these!)
Tom Mayo
Brad Duncan
John W. Smith
Matt Cucchiara
Kevin Wilkins
Bob Terzuola
Shane Sibert

The smoothest folders have always been Benchmade IMO. From my AFKC800 to 710 and my newly aquired 910, they have allways been like butter. Others are good, but Benchamade has always been silky. I know. I am a heretic.

The BM800 liner lock, 710HS and 940Ti Axis locks are the smoothest folders I've owned. Haven't had a huge selection of nice folders, but there are a couple of customs and three Sebenzas included in the list. I'd always considered smooth opening synonymous with the liner lock, but the Axis turned out to be great, too. My 940Ti is so slick that I keep checking it to see if the pivot screw is loose, even though I know it's not.

Spyderco D'Allara...waaaay smooth...like, almost too smooth kinda smooth.

It's really that smooth...really.

I hear very good things about benchmade what does IMO stand for?

Has anyone ever opened a Phil Boguszewski folder? Then there is Michael Walker,Steve Jernigan,Larry Chew and the other makers that used his Voodoo pivot like Larry Davidson,Vagnino, etc.RJ Martin new Flippers are amazing. My Rick Hinderer FireTac is also very smooth.
I've heard the IKBS pivot is smooth and there are many makers using it.
Some makers will have 2 of the same models, one may be smooth and the other not.So its better to check it out.Production folders will vary the same way with the exception of CRK and WH.
IMO stands for in my opinion
