My understanding is that these products should be used together, so I oredered both. Is this true? The Marine Tuf-Cloth package says to restore the cloth with mineral spirits. Should I do that, or would it be better to restore it with the Smooth-Kote? If not, what exactly SHOULD I do with the Smooth-Kote (tut-tut! Don't get fresh now!)?

Thanks guys (I love this place!)
Howie

Smooth Kote is a Dry Lubricant and Bore Treatment, and basically solidifies after application... Do Not Use it on your Tuf-Cloth.
Use Tuf-Glide on the Tuf-Cloths and Marine Tuf-Cloths to keep them moist..
Sentry Solutions are great products..
Hope this Helps..

Howie,
You have 2 great products made by the same company, but they aren't exactly made to used 'together'. the MARINE TUF-CLOTH is for ultimate corrosion protection. Its a little 'thicker' than regular TUD-CLOTH, great for extreme outdoor, and saltwater use.

SMOOTH-COTE is a thin, fast drying solid based lubricant. It has minimal corrosion protection, but it is slick as hell,a nd completely dry after it cures. And it stays put,...its doesn't wipe off easy.

SMOOTH_COTE will NOT recharge MARINE-TUF-CLOTH. It WILL make a big MESS if you try that. TUF-GLIDE can help 're-charge' a badly worn out TUF-CLOTH, but I just put a tablespoon of mineral spirits in the little bag. That does the trick.

EEK!!! So can I use one, THEN the other? If not, I suppose I should return the Smooth-Kote?

So would Tuf-Glide be better for restoring the Marine Tuf-Cloth, or would mineral spirits work better?

Thanks again
Howie

Although the package says mineral spirits (its active carrier) can be used to "recharge" the Tuff Cloths, they (customer service?) also posted here on the forums that they recommend Tuff Glide over mineral spirits. Hmmm. In my experience added mineral spirits do indeed keep the cloth moist but after some use the smell becomes quite strong. If you take a whif of the cloth and the Tuff Glide you' ll find that their odors are the same. I begin to wonder if the strength of the spirits become dominant over the Tuff Glide and that the protective qualities start to diminish. Better to "recharge" with Tuff Glide.
