G'day all, can anyone tell me the advantages/ disadvantages of serrated versus smooth contact wheels? Unfortunately beaumont metal works won't ship to Australia so I'm thinking of buying some wheels from a company in South africa. however they are all smooth. One big plus is that they are heaps cheaper than the equivalent bader etc.:thumbup: any advice would be greatfully recieved, cheers! :):)

Serrated wheels tend to be more aggressive but smooth wheels are easier to get a nice finish with. The serrated wheels also tend to be a little more lax in the tracking department. Belts and grinders are better today than they once were, so unless you have tracking issues I'd feel comfortable getting a smooth wheel. They are a little trickier at first, but eventually you'll want one.

I totally agree with AcridSaint, also I found that serrated wheels run a little cooler but with the belts and grinders we have today this is not a problem I strictly use smooth wheels now.

G'day langchop i live in northern new south wales, australia, just up the road from byron bay (highly overated beachtown):D . mike turner, acrid saint, smooth wheels are the go eh? thanks for your replies.:D:D
