Smoothest Custom Folder

i have only 2 custom folders. a Todd Davison and a Rusty Preston. both are buttery smooth and i don't see how anything could be smoother. both have half stops, excellent snap and perfect lock-up. as stated previously, it's in the tolerences and both my knives are made to very exacting tolerences.
if i bought a custom that wasn't buttery smooth, i would be very disappointed. roland

All my custom knives all have some degree of
smoothness. Some are smooother than others. But, what I CAN say is that there are makers that ARE consistanly smoooth! That is awesome. Tom Mayo's knives are hard to beat for smoothness, and consistantly so!! I have some makers knives that are not conistant in their smoothness.

I haven't had that much experience with custom folders. Overall, I have handled the work of maybe three dozen makers. The smoothest mechanism that I have manipulated was on a Whiplash 2 by Brad Duncan.

I have to count my Kirk Rexroat and Koji Hara folders as 2 of the smoothest knives I've ever handled.

On a scale of 1-10 Jeffrey Harkins is a 10. So is Michael Walker. That's the highest end of the scale. Bogiszewski (sp?) is also up in this league.

Most others are a 9, which is REALLY smooth. First name that came to mind, though was Stan Fujisaka. His folders open like butter.

I agree with all the names presented that I have handled.

Of all the knives I own(ed), the Mayo TNT takes the cake. It's got zero play in any direction and the opening is almost effortless. The galvanic slipjoint by Kelly Carlson would be a close second.
