The frog is the leather that it fitted to the scabbard to hold the belt loop. In fairnes to Craig,I did a bend test.Khukuries should be about 58 at the edge, and 24 to 34 at the spine.A file will bite 34.I put it in a vice and pulled it with as much force as it is going to see in field use.It didn`t bend much, neither did it break.I pushed it,with the same results. It came out true.Cliff could guess whetherI stressed it,we`ll see.Craig sent me a nifty stand for it.I would recommend one of these,if you have some flat space.Get a large enough size so that you can set them in sheathed.A big peice of sharp steel may not be what you want to go bump in the night. The smaller hooks of the two, just fit an I8th.cent with the thin wood They would not fit another Service Mod.scabard.Unless you want your piano scratched, get those selfadhesive ,felt bumpers for the bottom.I happened to have some.As luck would have it.If you have a lot of big knives,an old,cut down gun rack would be an idea.

I`d lke to add that the mortise and tenon joints are tight.VA has a different humidity than here.I set them in straight, about half way.It is 50% inside. They are plumb, and after a few fires, will drop in from the knife weight.Otherwise, after a couple of weeks,I`ll push them home.I see no need for glue.I`ll set up the table saw, router and band saw and make some some time, but If you don`t wnt to do that,Craig`s are a way to go.Craig, you might include some stick on felt,or rubber for the shop supply challanged;nice thouch.

Jumbi: The leather part that holds the scabbard and also serves as the "hanger" for attaching to your belt/pack is the frog.

Craig.

Ghost: thanks for the bend test. Although I cringe at doing that, I always have to remind myself that these things are built to take the abuse.

As for the stand, my favorite thing about them is that they don't detract from the khukuri - anybody who sees the rig isn't distracted by a bunch of brass tacks.

For those of you who aren't familiar with the stands, here's a picture (it's holding a bhojpure and a sirupati).
