Snake ID

It's amazing how many people I know assume they're cotton mouths and shoot them on sight... It's easy to tell the difference even from a distance but most people seem pretty ignorant when it comes to snakes.

i live in outback Australia. around here, we ALWAYS assume that any snake is venomous/dangerous.

heck, we have highly venomous snakes that look almost identical to harmless pythons.

had a damn bandibandi hanging around my archery target a couple weeks ago.

Must be an adventure everyday where you live;) I've always wanted to visit
Australia one day and see some of your fantastic wildlife firsthand.

Here in the US it's pretty easy to distinguish venomous snakes from harmless
ones since we only have what boils down to two groups: Pit vipers (rattlesnakes, copperheads, cotton mouths etc.) and Coral snakes.

Corals are a little tricky since they look pretty much like a regular king snake with a different pattern but the rest stand out with their slitted eyes and triangular heads.
