Yesterday, friend and knifemaker Chris Hatin sent me a new sheath for my Spyderco Moran which he had taken back home with him following a visit down here a short while ago.

I must say that this sheath is very, very cool. The knife snaps in with a distinctive "click" and is quite secure, yet releases very nicely.

The cross draw rig rides at a cant of about 45 degrees keeping the knife accessible and unobtrusive no matter whether standing or sitting. I used it with a metal lined 1.5" gun belt and it worked outstandingly.

Here's a pic:

Here's a pic of a holster made by Chris with actual snakeskin laminated on top of the concealex:

Okay, here's the catch:

The new sheathes are only available with Chris' knives and are not available as a special order or aftermarket for knives which are not Hatin T.E.C.

Then again, considering how nice Chris' knives are, what's the problem? Just order one of his knives and ask for a Snake Skin concealex sheath.

Problem solved.

Genuine snake skin, laminated with a heavy-duty contact cement. I've been carrying the holster daily, and it is wearing very well. A nice alternative to that plastic look.

Ohhhhhhh, last time I answered the door it was the BATF! I know you have connections so I take back everything I said about your itty bitty plastic mouse gun! Besided, you shot my BIG gun real well! Has your lovely wife talked you into getting a machine gun yet???

I'm toying with the idea of laminating some Concealex myself...

Just been too darn busy with other stuff at the moment...

I bet it looks pretty cool...

Rob,

I'm trying to make her forget she ever fired a gun so she won't decide to use mine on me!

I had a machine gun issued by the job, but it got to be a pain in the butt taking it in and out of the car daily. (Didn't dare leave it secured in the vehicle overnight.)

Anyway, since I left SRT I returned it and just make do with my peashooters.

If I need anything bigger than that I'll just call you and Joe over to help me.

Take care, Hunka.

Brought back up to the top since I was able to borrow a digital camera from work and take a picture of the sheath with the Spyderco Moran.
