Yesterday, friend and knifemaker Chris Hatin sent me a new sheath for my Spyderco Moran which he had taken back home with him following a visit down here a short while ago.
I must say that this sheath is very, very cool. The knife snaps in with a distinctive "click" and is quite secure, yet releases very nicely.
The cross draw rig rides at a cant of about 45 degrees keeping the knife accessible and unobtrusive no matter whether standing or sitting. I used it with a metal lined 1.5" gun belt and it worked outstandingly.
Here's a pic:
Here's a pic of a holster made by Chris with actual snakeskin laminated on top of the concealex:
Okay, here's the catch:
The new sheathes are only available with Chris' knives and are not available as a special order or aftermarket for knives which are not Hatin T.E.C.
Then again, considering how nice Chris' knives are, what's the problem? Just order one of his knives and ask for a Snake Skin concealex sheath.
Problem solved.
