I see several cracks in this piece. Question, is the knife handle going to crack at a later time? Is there a treatment that can be done to prevent further shrinkage? I've always liked snakewood and would use it if it didnt come back to haunt me.

Hello Bruce,
Yes there are a few cracks in this piece. They have been there since I got it 7 years ago. I have not had anymore develop since then. The haze you see on it is wax from when I received it and I tried to clean it up a tad for the pictures. I have used snakewood a few times and the only time it has cracked on me is if I over peened the handle. I mostly used the snakewood while making pens a few years ago and I found that a thin CA and sawdust from the wood stabilized any and all cracks. I have not had one come back and to my knowledge all are holding up well. Thank you very much for your inquiry and I must tell you that your work is incredible. I would be honored if I saw one of your pieces with this wood on it.
Thank you again,

Daniel,
If nobody from the forum gets this piece in the next few days, give me a call middle of the week.
I am interested in getting it, but feel the forum members should have 1st shot at it.

I received a piece of snake wood from DanCo many months ago and even the climate change hasn't even affected the wood I have.
