I was looking through my pics and thought I'd put together a collection of my favourite snake pics, these seem to be the creatures I spot the most so I occasionally get a decent pic !

snakes are some of my favorite critters, I have three as pets, two pythons
(ball and Blood)and one corn.

Wild snakes are fun to see in there own enviroment, I once got to watch a garter snakes eat a frog, pretty neat,

now I just get to watch pythons eat rats:D:D

I'm a fan of snakes too. Used to keep California Kings for pets. Haven't seen any for awhile. Can usually count on spotting western diamondbacks out here.
 
Hey pitdog, great pictures as usual. (hye you ever notice the more you drink, the worse you spel?) Anyway, in picture #1 have you identified the 6-whorled leaf plant with the prickly stem?

Oh yeah, I do most my posts after beer and then correct them in the morning !!!

The "(hye you ever notice the more you drink, the worse you spel?) was a reference to the current situation when I posted. Not a reflection on you, bro.

If this plant was in Ontario, I would think it may be Galium asprellum or Rough Bedstraw. In BC, I would guess G. triflorum (Sweet-scented Bedstraw) or possibly, G. aparine (Cleavers). If this is the case, it is an edible and medicinal plant, apparently. The final determination is left up to our Left Coast representative - YOU! :D

Great pics, I love seeing snakes in the hills. I like that black one with the red stripe.
