Snakeskin handles

Heres what the original snakeskin looks like, just so you newbies know :p

Here is a pic of most of my snakeskin. Maybe a couple of others laying around now. Interesting that the snakeskin wasn't my favorite, now I wish I'd bought a few more pieces.

Also, that bottom piece is what they called "Green" Snakeskin at the time. It is a very unique handle.

The Active Duties are the only three full flat ground AD's that I know to be in existence, (at least the only 3 that were done by the shop and I know for a fact all 3 were done by Jerry. The story that goes with them is a good one but too long for me to type ;) )

:D:D

The 2nd and 4th were called "Hood" Variants at the time as they were made from the blanks that Jerry had originally made for a Hood collab knife that was never made. The 3rd was just a BM variant. Very few BM variants are out there, at least from this era. More of the SH variants exist from this time period but few of them with straight handles.
The 2nd one down is also a fatty, over 1/4" thick and maybe close 5/16" (not in front of me now and I'm going from memory)

Ahh ....... ok MR Stockpiler. MY uncle lived in Woodbridge for years and just a few years ago moved to Mineral V.A.

In the spirit of almost neighbordom vicariously through my Uncle and cousins, I will allow you to offer me some blades to buy.

I am feeling quire magnanimus this evening , No?

Good try!

However, I am something of an INFI Black Hole ... :o

Any chance you will reunite this one with any of the Hood variants? She misses them.

Bobby,
So you have the Quad grind now? I wondered where it had gone. I had a chance at it once but it wasn't a good time for me to buy it. If you are offering it to me I'd love to have it ;)

It could come in the same package as the 1 of 13 FBM to join this one ;)

I owned 7 of these at once but let them all go but this one

:D:D

Lol, no no. You misunderstood, I was thinking the Hood's could come to my house and stay. :D

So they can be locked away in the safe never to see sunshine again. We can't have that.

Damn, all these rare knives and snakeskin is making me frisky and depressed at the same time :o

Do what? You do know Eric is one of those INFI black holes. I gave up long ago.....

I think the Hood variants should be reunited with an actual Hood knife, not a steel heart. ;)

The "Hood" with the blade catch on it is an oddball. It is the only variant I've ever seen that is lasered with the word "Variant" on it.

:D:D

Snakeskin users FTW!

I can't wait until finances allow for me to slowly start pulling snakeskin away from you veteran hogs <cue mennacing laugh...> I don't want too much, just a few choice ones for me to use and love :)

BTW- I did recently email Garth about availability of ANY snakeskin scraps to be used on an MBC and his answer was no. I even suggested a g-rex type setup to minimize use of this material and even that was a no go...so either I simply don't have enough HOG clout yet to pull this off, or the shop really is completely out of snake skin :tear:

Great thread, thanks for showing off everyone

I think I like the snakeskin textured grips a lot. This SHOULD and MUST be brought back...
