Snakeskin Question

So, Snakeskin Micarta is layered canvas in different colors..right?

Why can't the same sequence of colored canvas be layered again?

I mean, I could look at a SS handle and tell you the sequence of colors....

Can someone explain to me why it's not reproducible?

They've tried, apparently, so I would guess they went through the logical steps of reproducing it, but it wouldn't turn out the same.

Right. But what technical difficulties did they run into?

The maker of the canvas can't reproduce it? Was the pigment made from an endangered species?

If Jerry just doesn't want to put anymore on new knives so that it becomes more collectible, I can understand that. He stops making designs all the time. But why is it procedurally not possible to make any more SS Micarta?

I'm really just curious, what part of it can not be reproduced?

IIRC, snakeskin micarta is supposed to be made of layers of paper, linen and canvas micarta. Perhaps this has something to do with the difficulty of reproducing it. Pete

its the

SLITHER!

plus that mold has shed so it will never be the same.

LMAO!

WOW! That is Snake on the HOFSH LE:eek::confused:
It wasn't a Tiger that had been freshly oiled is it? My FBM LE looked just a little like that when I oiled it once...but not near as much like Snake as that.

Do you happen to know the storey on that one Rick?

If I remember correctly, Andre (500jefferyDK) got it off eBay. There was plenty of oohing and ahing over the handles at the time. Other than that, I have no further data.
