i'll do more pictures at least...

still no word on teh machax, would love to share pictures of that.

Handload.

I dig bolt guns for the slow factor too, Bladite. Seldom do I need to burn money at such a rate, and if I needed to, my Marlin 336 can pump out half a dozen rounds real fast. I prefer accuracy to volume.

Unfortuately I simply do not have the time to learn how at this point. Dealing with all these dead cow hides pretty much eats up most of my time. I miss my 336 I wish I never sold that thing now.

I hear ya. Knifemaking has eaten up my reloading time, and I NEED to feed my Blackhawk...

Good info on that MN Bladite, thanks for that. I hear lots of hype about them, but remain in the dark myself about them. I also HATE the AK and it's variants. I've got a Russian SKS, damn good rifle.

mmmmmmmm..........
SKS.............
don't have an MN.
don't particularly want an MN
got a Swede M38 w/turndown bolt made by Husqvarna in 1942...

Speaking of rifles, picked this one up a few weeks ago, still haven't had the chance to shoot it:(

Gotta bag.
Flexxx won't be pleased, but one day I hope to satisfy him. ;-)

I ordered a Rothco Medium Transport Pack from up the River. it had good reviews compared to frightful stories for other MFRs.

Some pix below.
I like the layout and features:
2 main compartments
2 small outside compartments on the back
one compression strap per side, down low
1 top compression strap
2 molle loops per side, top and bottom
bottom loops for bag or whatever
internal organizers - they'll do

I put it on, and it seems to fit appropriately.
I like the camo pattern, and the organization will work.
Had to rotate my knife clip for the strap, no biggie.

Cons: made in China :-( (but what did I expect for the price? My budget was truly $50)
also, it smells horrible. It should probably sit on the porch to air out.
I''ll probably treat it with my super secret woodland scent and spray it with the tick-away stuff.
Maybe throw some cedar chunks in each compartment.
This won't work for a motorcycle bag - too many strap-end to flap around. That's ok, I've already got one that works.

More pics when stuffed.

The sad irony of the fact that this bag is made in China, but I live 8mi from a major US military fabrics manufacturer crushes my soul a bit.

I have pretty much that same exact bag, except in foliage green. I use it as my GHB/Car bag. It holds a ton of gear for its size. I really like it.

so, took the M39 out today.

i think the M39 shoots quite nicely, the holes outside the yellow/black target are someone's .223 attempts. i just stuck mine over it. only 1 flyer. bah.

For you folks who are getting into Mil surp guns, look at getting a type 3 FFL, it's a curio and relics license. Pretty sweet, get them shipped right to your door and don't have to do background checks, and the license only took 13 days to get. $30 for 3 years.

Check out the Swiss K31's. love them like a fat kid love's cake.

Nice, I been wanting one of those for some time now.......30-30?

with skinner sights?
straight stock w/ round loop? looks new, but I didn't think that was a common configuration.

If I'd known an FFL is that cheap or easy, I'd have done it a long time ago. Thanks for the 411.

Just been busy with work and travel. This weekend though, I'm escorting the Barlow Navy through the straight and narrows.

the Curio & Relics license aint a fullbore FFL. just allows u to buy antique model guns without a background checks and paperwork. Can ship the guns that qualify under a C&R right to your door, same as buying a knife or spork or hairbrush mailorder.

Yeah, I know the limits. Just never realized it was that easy. AIM Surplus is about to get a lot of my cash.

as for the lure of the Mosin...its Not ''an old rifle'' its a piece of history. All mine were made before my father was born, they were likely carried thru WWII...some mosins were carried thru WWI, WWII and numerous other conflicts. MNs are the worlds longest produced military weapon.

When I bought my first, I was telling my Dad about it, he had ''never heard of it'' but when I showed him the rifle, he said ''heck I saw tons of those things in VietNam...piled 'em up and burnt 'em''. Mosins have been around the world.
