do what you need to do to protect yourself, esp if there's insanity: hide your good toys with a buddy... sock away some CASH somewhere... inventory and take pictures... change the locks and passwords ;) burn the paypal records ;)

well, hopefully not... a couple friends had to do this, as the ex showed up at the house while everyone was away, looted the place, and pretty much got away with it. proof? hah.
 
Clich, sorry to hear your news. LT relationships are damn hard and it's a miracle that anyone sticks it out and stays happy, at least in my opinion. I'm 13 years in with mine and sometimes I think the fact that we're both so g.d. pigheaded stubborn is the glue that binds us... good luck.

some days I think we're still married despite our respective in-laws. (except she got the world's coolest father-in-law out of the deal...)

cripes, I've heard some horror stories out my way too.
It's saddening me, as I approach XX years old...

If anyone going through this plans to share custody, remember this: it's a pain in the tuchas when all your underwear migrates to one parent's place and then you switch. Help a kid out and stash some drawers in a drawer.

indeedy. in fact, hit the bank and lock the accounts out, or start a new one in your name only (in a different bank if need be), with half the money right now?

of the above mentioned buddy, boy was he shocked to find that ALL the money was gone. THAT was legal evidence in court though. half the money? that's just prudent for paying the mortgage, taking care of the kids, and making sure there are not shenanigans.
