Snarking after the gathering CHAT

what type of hat do you all wear outdoors? the regular baseball cap doesnt do it for me anymore
 
Any of you folks have experience with a Remington 34? There's one at my local gun shop that I'm thinking about picking up. Needs a little sanding, but after a little work, I think it'll make a good first gun.

I like a HAT for woodsbumming, I wear a cap on occasion but prefer a crushable hat....I also bought a camo boonie hat today, but it's mainly to jam into a pack so I have a headcover if I forget to wear one. Honestly I go bare-headed 60% of the time unless it's cold, then my bald head gets a nice warm stocking cap....Carhartt
 
my baseball caps are keeping in to much heat now that the weather is getting warmer and im sweating to much. I want something to block the sun, but that can breath. Id love waterproof for the flash storms we get here in the valley but that i can deal without

For cooler weather, I wear a tarp hat, or an oilskin hat...which btw is crushable, packable, waterproof and it floats! :D

For hot weather, I wear a patrol cap. It's lightweight, breathable, quick-drying etc.

there might be some high-technology fabric out there that will meet ur criteria, but usually anything that is nice and airy for summer will have a mesh insert or is loose-weave straw, which means it aint gonna be even water-resistant much less water-proof.

I also like a bandana when working or out mucking about, aka Canterbury style. It aint waterproof but it soaks up head sweat and lets air in. and u can dip it in a cool stream and it feels great on the scalp on a hot day.
