Ok. For real, I don't know if they have persimmon in yer neck of the woods, so here it is

Soft fruit, usually best after a frost. Excellent wildlife food. When cut open, the seed is supposed to indicate severity of the winter.

And the wood is pretty aromatic when it burns.

Just got back from eight days of climbing in Northern Ontario. Totally self-supported. No cell service and no easy access to supplies. Getting in and out of this area requires a proper 4x4 vehicle with appropriate clearance. Bugs (black flies) were surprisingly bad. I guess this warm spell has extended their life cycle. We had rain and a minor accident which hampered our productivity. Good times.
