whhoooosaaaaa .. everyone say it with me ... "whooosaaaaa."

First and foremost, a restated Disclaimer. I have decided to call it the 'Not everyone who has a PhD is smart Clause.'

Warning: The pictures below are some of the knives you may see for sale on Friday. I dont know which ones. I'm not part of the Fiddleback Crew. I'm a customer of Fiddleback & WAS Knives - just like you. I am in no way compensated for these pictures. I dont get per diem (gas, food, lodging, etc). I dont get special pricing or free knives for doing this. I asked myself, 'why should do it?. The answer hasnt changed - no matter how pissed I get at an over-educated bi-polar idiot on the internet - I do it cause I'm a knife fanatic and I want to share my 'check out this cool as shit knife I saw today' experience. Visiting the shop is freaking cool and I know some of you will never get the chance. THIS is why I take the time/resources to share the pictures with you, my fellow Fiddleback freaks. Thus, a small snap shot of my experience from the shop visit today.

Oh man, thanks for doing this despite the blowback.

Those are some beautiful knives. I am constantly amazed at the quality of product they put out week after week.

That's VANCE's favorite!!

Man
I was just bitchin to my wife about it
Then I saw this thread
Then I saw "hammer time"

Then I saw the comment about the bushraptor
Then I see your comment

That was a whirlwind of emotions

If I could have.... That bushraptor would have made it into the "wall of shame"

Edit to add
Iirc I was finishing the bushraptor as bud pans down to me. That's the white dust on my shirt

I'm editing this and whomever quoted me is free to keep it there or remove it. I'm sure they will let me know when it is convenient for them to take care of it.

So the shop sold me a runt a few weeks ago and it came very dull. I sent it back to the shop and after everything was said and done, I told them I was no longer interested in it. They could refund the original purchaser, refund me, or send it back to me and I would take care of it. They haven't let me know how it is going to be handled.

Except that tonight it ended up in Bonafide's dinner.

I saw the picture here before I have been refunded, and before any communication from the shop on how it would be handled.

For anyone who has been looking for a runt - you are a second class customer. Your business is simply second to the locals, and that was in fact my point when I spoke to Andy earlier in the week.

I don't mind it being resold. I don't mind it being resold to Bonafide. I do mind that it shows up on the forum in this way before I have been taken care of by the shop, and in a way that clearly prioritizes who they want to be in business with.

Here was my point - if you are going to allow customers to advertise your knives, do it in a way that does not make them feel that their money is any less valuable to you than someone elses money.

Given the repeated interest in handmade runts from folks around the country, it is absolutely disconcerting to add the runt that I paid for into Bonafide's collection of 36+ runts without first giving my money back, calling me to let me know when or how they were going to give my money back, or making the blade available to a first time customer that has been waiting in line every friday for a special knife.

Just my opinion on why other knifemakers deserve my business, and perhaps yours, more than Fiddleback Forge.

I don't care what business your in - until you give my money back, that is my property. That seems simple enough.

You had a choice on how to respond and you chose this. Just to be clear, if you thought you were not treated appropriately you always had the option of not saying anything. May I respectfully recommend that you listen a bit more to George Jones and Rush?

As far as I can tell you gave the shop a gift of a runt to do what they want with. If you weren't the original buyer I doubt the satisfaction guarantee applies to you. Even if you get someone else to buy it for you(which probably applies here). The proper course of action is contact the shop prior to returning the knife and get an answer on how it will be handled. When you ship knives arbitrarily I would call them gifts and sell then to anyone with money.

Of course I contacted the shop. We were working out how it was going to be handled. They just haven't gotten back to me on how they wanted to handle it. It was sent in for sharpening. I told them they could send it back to me, refund me directly, or refund the original purchaser. Either option is fine. To see it here before I heard back was not what I expected.

Got it. You got your feelings hurt because a desireable knife was sold to a customer who appreciated the craftsmanship.

Vayu, I like you man. I think you bring a good vibe to the forum and I know you mean well. But perhaps you should wait and deal with Andy and team privately on this. Remember, they're a busy team, but they'll get back to you.

*snip*.....I don't mind it being resold. I don't mind it being resold to Bonafide.....*snip*

Really? Because your actions belie your words to anyone with an understanding of human psychology.

Your complaint belongs in an email to the dealer you mentioned, not in a thread in the knife maker's forum.

From my perspective, it seems as though you are taking it ending up in Bonafide's possession quite personally, and thus brought your thoughts here for the sole purpose of stirring more drama.

Very poor form man.

I did not come on this thread to read personal issues anyone has with the shop, I came to view the pictures. Start your own thread....if you can't be gentleman enough to handle it by PMs like we are supposed to....your wasting your breath, your not changing anyone's mind about Andy Or Fiddleback Forge.
I'm only disgusted at you for messing up a thread I've been waiting to view.

Thanks Bud for the effort!!

You guys are right. It doesn't matter. I'm sure they will let me know when it is convenient for them to take care of it.
