This just in from the Swamp Rat design team. Here's a sneak preview of the Swamp Rat Entry Hawk prototype. Justin Gingrich of Ranger Knives approached Swamp Rat with the idea of making the strongest entry hawk on the market today. Made from our new SR 77 tool steel, the Swamp Rat Entry Hawk is unstoppable and far stronger and tougher than any other hawk out there. Period.

Pretty cool looking tool. Ok, I'll be the first to ask. SR77? How about some info on the steel. :)
I assume that it's more durable than SR101.
Tell us more. :D
 
That's F'ing AWESOME! NICE to see that the Hawks are still on the table. Justin is good people, and I can't wait to see what else he has up his sleeve. I guess that a Resiprene C handle would be too much to ask for:D Gotta get one at least

How does it compare in size to the PH ??

First of all I would like to thank the entire Swamp Rat team. They have been great to work with on this project. Also I would like to thank you all for enthusiastic reaspons to the hawk. I am looking forward to getting this hawk out so all of you can start to chop,hack, pry and what ever else you can think to do with it. Thank you all again!


P.S. Fan of Steel I have long sleeves and I am sure there are a couple other things that may come out sooner than later. :D

4. What does the average person do with a 'hawk? I want the SR Hawk, but I have no idea what I'd use it for. Same with with a kuhk.

You would be surprised what you wind-up using a Hawk for once you have one. Whether it is something as mundane as breaking thick ice in the driveway or other household chores Tomahawks are a good choice. I may have more hawks then one man may ever need (Hawk addiction is only second to INFI) and I can't imagine not having one. It is a good B.O.B. item and dam it they are cool as hell. I am looking forward to this more than anything I've seen in awhile.

Kinda' same story on khuks. Once you have one, you'll FIND stuff to do with it. ;)

According to Eric, the steel is Swamp Rat's treatment of S7. If one of you steel-knowin' types would pop in here, we'd all appreciate it. I imagine, kinda like 5160, L6, etc., it's a supertough steel that won't really hold an edge through extensive cutting, but will put up with abuse that'd send fancier steels home crying. :)

Just looking at it, it's much larger than the PH. That isn't enough of an answer though...

4 1/2" Cutting Edge
15" OAL
12" Handle
Approx weight 2 1/4" :eek: (that'll make short work of a door)

When things have slowed down a little I'll post some info on the testing we did with this piece, it was absolutely amazing
 
that is fantastic... will it be available to the public? how much?????

i always wanted the busse ax, (not the megaladon, the plain old ax) but this will do very, very, very nicely:D :D :D
